Jill Cash is a St Lawrence local creating vibrant, handmade tie-dye clothing and accessories. Her range includes uniquely dyed shirts, shorts, socks, and hair ties, with each piece individually crafted so no two are ever the same. Catherine Faulkner creates handcrafted crystal suncatchers featuring faceted glass crystals, rainbow prisms, and symbolic charms such as lotus flowers, trees of life, suns, and moons. Each piece is thoughtfully assembled to reflect light and colour, creating vibrant rainbows and a sense of calm and beauty in any space. Gel Plate Printing Workshop with Ilbilbie Artist, Ann Mison!

Learn how to create beautiful hand printed original art using gel plate printing techniques. Choose from natural or man made objects to produce exciting art pieces.

Every print reveals something unexpected and delightful.

Workshop includes all materials, paper and easy Gel Plate recipe to make at home.

Make a unique piece of jewellery with youth artist Maya. You will have the option of making either a pair of earrings (pierced or clip on) or a pendant. This free family friendly activity is suitable for participants aged seven years and over but children under 14 years must be accompanied by an adult. This is a drop-in space for 5 participants at a time.

An artist and teacher of creative mindfulness. My goal as Founder and Director of Whimsy and Me is to provide a creative space that evokes connection and belonging. Our open and honest workshops facilitate creative journeys, as we work through the beautiful messiness of our busy lives.

At the St Lawrence Wetlands Festival, I will hold short workshops that run from 9.30am, with the final workshop commencing at 3.30pm on the Saturday. Each class will last from 1 to 1.5 hours and I can hold up to 15 people at a time, with participants ranging from 8yo and upwards. My workshops promote mindfulness, wellbeing and grounding.

Join watercolour artist Michelle Turner for a relaxed, creative weekend of painting at the St Lawrence Wetlands.

Choose from two coastal-inspired workshops, each guided step-by-step and designed to help you slow down, connect with nature, and create a beautiful artwork to take home.

Turtle Workshop
9:00am – 11:00am
A slightly more advanced session, ideal for those with some prior painting experience (keen beginners still very welcome). We will explore layering, texture and form while painting a graceful sea turtle.

Whale Workshop
12:00pm – 1:30pm or 2:00pm – 3:30pm
A shorter, gentle workshop suitable for all skill levels, focusing on movement, light and loose watercolour techniques while painting a whale.

All materials provided. Just bring yourself and enjoy the process. Suited to older teens & adults!

Sophie Pate is an experienced local artisan from Flaggy Rock who specialises in handcrafted leatherwork. In her hands-on leather workshop, participants will learn basic leatherworking techniques and create their own unique leather item. This workshop is suitable for all skill levels and offers a relaxed, supportive environment to explore traditional craftsmanship while making something practical and long-lasting to take home.

Mari’s Delights brings its much-loved Café on Wheels to the event, alongside the popular Knot the Wurst pretzel-making workshops. These hands-on sessions are fun, interactive, and perfect for all ages, giving participants the chance to twist, bake, and enjoy their own fresh pretzels.

INSIGHT TO HELEN

I just love to sew and love to use up all sorts of scraps of fabric. My daughters both had long hair and I made them and their friends lots of scrunchies. Now I make them for markets and as prizes for the students at the school I work at. Join me in this workshop and learn how to make them, quickly and neatly.

Workshop 1 - 10AM 

Make a Hair Scrunchie with me. Make a few !

In this workshop you will make a silky hair scrunchie to take home and wear. Hand sewing only, all materials provided. It's easy to make, a nice friendly activity to do together. Choose your loop of fabric, strait stitching, thread the elastic, close the hole and then put it on!

Workshop 2 - 1PM 

Felt Broaches

Come along and make a tiny wearable piece of art - a felt broach. They can be all sorts of designs, combining buttons, beads, and embroidery. There is a clasp at the back, several layers of felt and decoration per your imagination. All materials provided, hand sewing only. The yellow broaches are ones I made for the Gold House at the school I work at, the heart ones were made for Valentines Day, of course, some Christmas broaches are amongst them!

Old Farts Fiddling will be returning to St Lawrence Wetlands Festival 2026. We will be teaching our popular Introduction to Whittling workshops.

You will be able to learn how to carve yourself a keepsake to take home with you, gaining new skills to create more at home and knowledge of equipment to use.

Old Farts Fiddling started out as a bone carving market stall. Mal started whittling to keep his hands occupied and stop him falling asleep!

He is after all an Old Fart! Over the years Old Farts Fiddling have developed a following. People, from Rockhampton to Collinsville, regularly drop in to Airlie Beach markets to see what he has created and catch up.

Previous students from our numerous workshops will drop by to say hello and show off the results of their new skills. Students will often attend several workshops. It is always great to see them again.

Join Traditional Owner Jenuarrie for a meaningful and creative workshop where participants will paint their own special keepsake inspired by the culture, stories, and natural beauty of the St Lawrence wetlands. This unique festival experience offers a chance to connect with place through art, guided by cultural knowledge and creativity. Suitable for all ages, participants will create a personalised piece to take home as a lasting reminder of the festival and its rich cultural heritage.
