EXHIBITION REQUIREMENTS
- The subject matter of all artwork must be suitable for the general public. The Library or AAA reserves the right to refuse or remove artwork judged unsuitable.
- Originality: All work must be original, signed by the artist, and completed within the three years prior to the exhibit.
- Hanging hardware: All work MUST be equipped with wire for hanging. Sawtooth hangers are not acceptable and may result in the artwork being rejected.
- Two-dimensional work must be:
- Securely and suitably framed (no clip frames)
- Completely dry
- Under glass or Plexiglass, except for artwork on canvas, panels, or board
- Finished with a durable protective coating as appropriate (for unglazed work)
- Canvas artwork should be gallery wrapped or have painted finished edges.
- Artwork removal and replacement: Artwork may be removed before the published pickup date of May 2. Artists may replace sold artwork before the pickup date in coordination with exhibit manager Kathy Strouss. All artwork will be hung at the discretion of the AAA installation team.
STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITY
AAA will take all reasonable precautions to protect exhibited artwork. However, neither the Michael E. Busch Annapolis Library, Anne Arundel County, nor the Annapolis Arts Alliance provides insurance coverage or assumes responsibility for loss or damage due to theft, accident, fire, or other causes.
Labels and marketing materials: AAA will create uniform labels attached to hanging rods. Artists may display business cards and limited marketing materials on a small table provided by the library.
Installation considerations: The library uses an art hanging wall system with hooks designed for wired frames and canvases. Artists with oversized, fragile, or high-value artwork should contact exhibit manager Kathy Strouss before registering.
