Safeguarding Policy
All teacher observers must have a valid DBS check and have undertaken safeguarding training*, filed in advance with the BSMA office. For residents outside England & Wales, proof of equivalent local police checks and safeguarding qualification is required. If you cannot provide this please contact the BSMA for guidance.
It is expected that all faculty, observing teachers and teacher trainees will conduct themselves in an appropriate and professional manner at all times when in contact with workshop participants and families.
To ensure that the privacy and consent of other participants can be respected, no recordings or images which include participants other than your own child may be shared on social media platforms, or in any other public way, without their parent/guardian's explicit consent.
No part of any class may be recorded without the express permission of the teacher leading that session.
The designated safeguarding lead for the National Suzuki Workshop 2026 is Nickie Chapman. All BSMA teachers and faculty have undergone safeguarding training prior to this event.
*For teachers who do not already have safeguarding training, it is possible to take the BSMA's recommended course online by following this link, https://hsqe.co.uk/ courses/safeguarding-children/ . The course takes approximately one hour and costs £15 + VAT.
