  • WHO WE ARE

    Leadership Tallahassee (LT) is a program of the Greater Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce. LT cultivates a diverse network of emerging and experienced leaders committed to improving the community. With the support of LT graduates and the community, LT has conducted leadership programs since 1983 and has over 2,000 graduates.

  • BENEFITS

    • Interact with leaders from the various sectors of our community (private business, government, non-profit)
    • Learn from “unlike” minded people to build strong relationships
    • Develop an awareness/participate in discussions on challenges and opportunities in the community by examining major relevant business, government, and social issues
    • Enhance understanding of your personal leadership style to grow into higher-level roles both in the workplace and the community; becoming more engaged in delivering solutions
    • Deepen your company’s profile with community, business and government leaders through visibility and commitment to community success
  • CURRICULUM

    The program begins with orientation in May, followed by a retreat in August, continues with monthly sessions and a closing retreat in April. The sessions present activities and hands-on experiences related to leadership topics, such as: economic development, the arts, healthcare, human services, the environment, education, law enforcement and justice.

    Opening Retreat: Friday & Saturday, July 31 & August 1, 2026

    Program Day: Thursday, April 1, 2027
    Closing Retreat: Friday, April 29, 2027
    Class Graduation: Thursday, May 6, 2027
     
    (All program days are 8:30 am – 5:00 pm)
  • TIME COMMITMENT

    After Orientation, participants spend approximately 125 hours in the program from August to May. Attendance for the full duration of the overnight Opening Retreat (Friday, July 31 & Saturday, August 1), including bus ride to/from location, is mandatory. Participants attend monthly program days, participate in a community arts experience/event, volunteer for one LT or LT partner program/event (specifics to be shared later), attend a school board, city or county commission meeting, and participate in a class project.
  • TUITION - SCHOLARSHIPS - PAYMENT PLANS

    • Tuition for Leadership Tallahassee is $3,500, or $3,250 for Greater Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce members. Cash, check, or credit card accepted. Tuition payment plans are available.
    • Partial scholarships are offered and those requests are encouraged. The LT Board is committed to providing scholarship assistance. Requests are submitted with the LT Class application, but are not factored into the selection decision for admission.
    • Tuition is due July 31, 2026, unless participant receives scholarship assistance and/or is approved for a payment plan. 
    • Alumni dues of $150 are presented by each new graduate at the Class Graduation on May 2027.

  • INSTRUCTIONS FOR APPLICATION COMPLETION & SUBMISSION

    Please follow these instructions carefully. Your application materials are the only items given consideration by the Selection Committee.

    • Complete each section thoroughly.

    • Pay $50 non-refundable application fee. To make credit card payments, use the PayPal portal at the end of this application or contact ephilpot@talchamber.com. Checks should be payable to Leadership Tallahassee and mailed to: Leadership Tallahassee, PO Box 1639, Tallahassee, FL 32302.

    • All applicants will be notified June 2026.

    • All questions/responses are taken into consideration in evaluating each individual application submitted for the Leadership Tallahassee Class program.

    • All applications materials, including letters of recommendation, should be submitted by 11:59pm EST on Thursday, April 9, 2026. 
  • SELECTION CRITERIA

    Leadership Tallahassee seeks those candidates who:

    • Demonstrate leadership attributes through career achievement or participation in community activities
    • Represent a cross-section from businesses, government, and non-profit organizations
    • Reside in Tallahassee or the surrounding region
    • Identify and analyze challenges considering various perspectives, then provide solutions
    • Share personal/professional resources/expertise
    • Value continuous learning and personal professional development

    Each application requires two references/recommendations. One may be submitted in the form of a Nomination Letter. The other, should be an individual who is willing to be contacted by a member of our selection committee and can speak to your personal and professional experiences.

  • V. PARTICIPANT COMMITMENT

  • I understand the requirements of the LEADERSHIP TALLAHASSEE CLASS 44 as outlined in the Fact Sheet and, if I am selected, I will devote the time and resources necessary to complete the class program and become an active member of the alumni group after graduation.

    I understand missing any portion of the Opening Retreat (July 31-August 1, 2026) will result in my removal from the program. I acknowledge that if I miss two program day sessions, the Leadership Tallahassee Board of Governors will review my attendance and I may be asked to withdraw from the program and no portion of the tuition shall be refunded.

    I understand the above commitments and agree to be bound by them in signing this application.

  • VI. TUITION - SCHOLARSHIPS - PAYMENT PLANS

    If accepted into Leadership Tallahassee Class 44, it is your responsibility to plan for tuition payment. You will be invoiced for the tuition fee ($3,500; $3,250 for Chamber members). This covers all program costs and is non-refundable.

  • The LT Board of Governors encourages scholarship requests. Every effort is made to grant at least a partial scholarship award. Requests must be made on the scholarship application form and submitted with the LT application. A payment plan for tuition may be arranged (for up to 10 months) for the balance due.
