      Jurors will only judge your artwork based on the 3 to 5 images that accompany your application.

      Jury Criteria

      The images submitted with your application will be judged based on these criteria:

      • The artwork indicates consistent technical proficiency with the medium.
      • The artwork reflects a coherent individual style and originality.
      • The artwork is representative of what you will have available during the Tour.

      The jurors are art professionals from the Quad-Cities area. They will view the 3 to 5 images you submitted to determine if your artwork meets the above criteria.

      • Artist identities are not disclosed to the jurors during the process.
      • There are no quotas determining medium or how many artists are selected.
      • The jury process is not a critique, and jurors do not provide feedback.
    • Image Criteria & Naming Conventions

      Before you upload any images, please make sure they meet the following criteria and naming conventions.

      Image Criteria

      • If you were in a previous year's Tour, new images must be submitted. Old images will not be used.
      • Images must be high resolution (300 dpi).
      • Images must be at least 6 inches (1800 pixels) on the longest side.
      • File size cannot be greater than 100 MB.
      • Images must be free of text and watermarks.
      • Images of 3D work should have ample space on all sides of the work.
      • Portrait/vertical images work best for the guide and ads.
      • Images may be cropped to fit size requirements.
      • Image file names must meet the naming conventions given below.
      • Images must be reflective of what you will have available during the Tour.

      Number, Type of Images and Naming Conventions

      Important: please follow the naming conventions below so we are able to easily see which images are yours out of the hundreds we receive.

      • 3 to 5 images of your work. Keep backgrounds simple and in neutral colors, e.g., white, gray, black. Frames should not be seen and edges should be straight. There should be ample open space on all sides of 3D work.
        File name should be: Last Name First Name # (e.g., Doe Tim 1, Doe Tim 2, etc.)
      • 1 image of you at work.
        File name should be: Last Name First Name at Work (e.g., Smith Bob at Work)
      • 1 image of your studio. Inside or outside, whichever you prefer.
        File name should be: Last Name First Name Studio (e.g., Jones Sue Studio)

    • Artist Volunteer Tasks

      You, our volunteers play a crucial role in organizing, publicizing, and coordinating the Studio Tour. It takes thousands of hours to organize and execute the event and with your efforts and involvement we are able to establish and maintain a smooth operation. You help us keep operational costs down allowing more funding to go into advertising and promotion and your input as we work together has set the foundation for continued growth and success.

      All artists are required to sign up for at least 1 task on any of the Committees listed below. Most tasks take 4 to 8 hours or less.

      If you are unable to volunteer, you must pay the $100 opt-out fee.

    • Pre-Tour Exhibit

      The ‘Tis Art Center and Gallery is again graciously offering their main gallery space for the Beyond the Studio: The Artist Tour Preview Exhibition where juried artists will be invited to showcase and possibly sell one of their works. The show is set to run from Thursday August 27 through Sunday September 20 with an opening reception during the 4th Friday Art Walk on August 28.

    • Artist Responsibilities

      To ensure the success of the Studio Tour, ALL artists need undertake the following.

      Solicit Art Supporters - Final Deadline July 1, 2026.

      • We need each artist to get at least 1 Art Supporter.
      • Art Supporters are businesses or individuals who advertise in the Tour guide and on the Tour website.
      • Ask the businesses you routinely use as well as friends or family to advertise by buying an ad or listing in the Tour guide and on the Tour website (one price for both).
      • Buy a listing or ad to advertise your art business.

      Promote the Tour and Participate in Tour Events

      • Talk about the Studio Tour with family, friends, neighbors, acquaintances and everyone you meet. Word of mouth is our best marketing tool.
      • Distribute Tour rackcards and guides (available August 21) to your personal mailing lists and other contacts.
      • Promote the Tour on your website, blog, Facebook page, Instagram feed and at any events you participate in.
      • Follow the Tour on Facebook and Instagram. Share Tour posts and use the Tour hash tag #PrescottStudioTour.
      • Participate in the Pre-Tour Exhibit at the 'Tis Gallery and Art Center (August 27 - September 20).
      • Attend the Post-Tour Potluck Party (October 10). Meet fellow Tour artists and trade Tour tips and happenings.

      Raffle a Piece of Your Art

      • Visitors to your Tour studio will love the opportunity to win a piece of your art. 
      • Proceeds from the sale of raffle tickets will be used to fund children's art programs in the Quad Cities as well as to fund next year's Tour.
      • Because of your generosity last year we were able to donate $4,000 to childrens art programs in the Quad Cities.

      Collect Sales Tax

      • Each artist is responsible for collecting and reporting sales tax. Information is available from the Arizona Department of Revenue at https://www.aztaxes.gov/home

      Have Liability Insurance

      • Each Tour studio owner/host is responsible for having the necessary liability insurance to cover possible injury to participants or visitors.
      • If you plan to serve alcohol, you should also have host liquor liability coverage.
      • The Studio Tour does not provide any type of insurance for any artists or studios.
    • 2026 Studio Tour Fees - Early Bird

      All fees must be paid when your application is submitted. If you are not accepted into this Year's Tour, all fees except the Application Processing Fee will be refunded. Notice of acceptence or rejection will be emailed by April 20, 2026.

      Application Processing Fee - $35 (non-refundable)

      • This fee applies to all artists.
      • First time Tour artists will be juried.
      • Returning Tour artists creating in the same medium(s) as in previous years are automatically juried into the 2026 Tour.
      • Returning Tour artists who have changed mediums will be re-juried under the new medium.

      Participation Fee - $200 (early bird - a savings of $75)
      (non-refundable after May 31, 2026)

      • Early Bird Deadline - March 9, 2026

      Volunteer Opt-Out Fee - $100
      (non-refundable after May 31, 2026)

      • Pay this fee to opt out of the Volunteer Tasks listed previously.
      • If you do not pay the Opt-Out Fee and do not help with a task, you may not be accepted into the next year's Tour.

      Credit card processing is handled securely by Square. The Studio Tour does not have access to your credit card information.

          • Artist Criteria

            If accepted into the Tour, the Artist must meet these criteria:

            • All artwork must be consistent with that submitted for judging.
            • All artwork must be available for sale.
            • Only goods/services relating to a Tour Artist’s artwork may be for sale during the Tour. No unrelated art items, manufactured, or commercial goods may be exhibited or sold. The Tour is intended to be a showcase for original artwork.
            • Locations on the Tour must be artists’ personal studios and may not be galleries which exhibit multiple artists or retail spaces that sell items other than the artist’s artwork or goods related to it.
            • All Tour Studios must be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and the Artists must be present during all three days of the Tour.
          • Definitions

            Art Center - an organization with the specific purpose of encouraging arts practice and providing facilities for ongoing art education that is either a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization or a public education institution.

            Art Supporter - an  individual or business who advertises in the Tour guide and on the Tour website by buying a listing or ad.

            Studio Tour or Tour - a shortened reference to the Prescott Area Artist Studio Tour. It is a juried, self-guided open studio event which is devoted to educating the public about the visual arts in the Quad-Cities area. It does so by showcasing the art, creative process and working environment of established and emerging Quad-Cities artists who have been juried and accepted into the Tour.

            Tour Artist - an artist with a studio in the Quad-Cities area who is actively producing high-quality work in any of the mediums listed in this applicaiton. Each Tour artist is individually juried and accepted into the Tour.

            Tour Studio - a location on the Tour where artists who have been juried into the Tour display their work, demonstrate their craft, and sell their art.

          • Participation Agreement

            If accepted to participate in the 2026 Prescott Area Artist Studio Tour, I agree to abide by all criteria and information outlined in this application.

            I understand failure to perform any task(s) for which I have volunteered may result in my not being accepted into next year's Tour.

            I understand every artist in a Tour Studio must be juried into the Tour.

            I understand my participation in the Tour does not guarantee any visitors or sales. 

            I allow the use of my images and and any information under "About You" to promote the Tour.

            I understand the Prescott Area Artist Studio Tour does not discriminate against anyone because of race, gender or sexual orientation, color, religion, national origin, age, disability, or any other reason prohibited under Federal, State or Local laws. And that the Prescott Area Artist Studio Tour will not tolerate any forms of racism or bigotry.

            I agree to indemnify and hold the Prescott Area Artist Studio Tour, its Board of Directors, officers, employees, agents, volunteers and all supporting or sponsoring organizations harmless against any and all claims, demands, damages, fees, costs, and actions of any kind asserted by or on behalf of any third person(s) from my participation in the 2026 Tour.
