Hazel Liberty Clinic Away
  • 2-DAY LIBERTY CLINIC

    PRESENTED BY VERSATILE HORSEMANSHIP
  • This form is to organize participant registration and auditor registration for the Liberty Clinic the week of March 10-11, 2026

One form MUST be filled out PER PARTICIPANT and PER AUDITOR.

If a participant wants to bring 2 horses that are NOT ready to work as a Liberty team or are already working as a Liberty team, they will need to pay for 2 individual spots in the clinic.

The Liberty Clinics are designed to be a combination of individual and group learning. Our goal with these clinics is to build a community at your barn and in your area, AND to help horsemen and horse enthusiasts improve their feel and timing regarding reading and understanding a horse, and to find clarity of their communication and intention with their horse in order to build into the connection. And of course, to have FUN! It's not about what we can do with your horse, but about what we can help YOU and YOUR horse accomplish together.

    LAYOUT OF THE CLINIC:
The clinic involves group sessions on-lead together, as well as once-daily longer individual sessions in the round pen or the arena depending upon the level of the horses and handlers.

Horses coming to the clinic should be halter broke and gentle to be handled. Basically, not feral-- that's a different kind of clinic.

Participants should bring their own halter and lead that they're comfortable using. I like to work in a rope halter with an 8-10 ft. lead that attaches softly to the halter (so, no hard clasp or buckle to knock the horse in the mandible as he moves around). Participants should also bring their own whips that they are comfortable using. I prefer Dressage crops for clarity of cues when teaching close maneuvers, and a carriage whip and/or a lunge whip for working on the foundation of Liberty, a Liberty team, of Liberty off the ridden horse.

You do NOT HAVE to use what I like, I'm just sharing that with you here to help you prepare if you do not know where to start. You can email clinics@versatilehorses.com with questions on where to purchase items if you do not have them already.

An average clinic runs from about 8:00/9:00AM to about 3:30/4:00PM depending upon the venue, and if Elliot and Caitie are both present for the clinic, and the number of participants.

If only Caitie OR Elliot is teaching- A minimum of 8 participants with a maximum of 10 participants is required.

If BOTH Caitie AND Elliot are there teaching- A minimum of 10 participants with a maximum of 16 partcipants is typically required.

We are open to discussing variations to this layout, just email clinics@versatilehorses.com to sort that out.

    _____

There is no random, willy-nilly filming or photographing at clinics.
    This is for several reasons...

    1. As a participant or auditor, you have paid a lot of hard earned money to be apart of this clinic. This information is YOURS to learn from and take with you in your horsemanship journey. It is knowledge and experience that is not only my life's work but the life's work of my mentors and their mentors before them. Cherish it and do not feel like you have to give it away for nothing.

    2. Videos and photos get misinterpreted by main stream media and social media. This is an effort to protect you, other clinic participants, this host facility, my mentors, and myself. Internet and news outlet bullying is real, I am mentally prepared for it but not everyone is. We aren't trying to hide anything, but we are protecting everyone involved and their privacy.

    3. If you communicate clearly to me at the clinic that you would like your session with your horse filmed with me coaching you for your personal reference so that you can go home and continue on with that visual, I'm OKAY with it! But we have to communicate together first and all be on the same page. No secret pocket filming. :)

    4. I've found that participants and auditors actually get MORE out of the clinic if they can put their phones down each day and actually study what is going on. Bring a pen and paper, we're going old fashioned here in this classroom!
