TAHOE FIVE PEAKS CHALLENGE
PARTICIPANT WAIVER & ASSUMPTION OF RISK
Please read carefully. By checking the box below, you acknowledge and agree to the following terms.
The Tahoe Five Peaks Challenge (“T5”) is a self‑guided, self‑supported outdoor endurance challenge that involves strenuous physical activity, high‑altitude environments, uneven terrain, rapidly changing weather, and inherent risks. By participating in the T5, you voluntarily assume all risks associated with hiking, trail running, driving between trailheads, and navigating mountain environments.
1. Age Requirement
Participation in the Tahoe Five Peaks Challenge is strictly limited to adults 18 years of age or older. By registering, I certify that I am at least 18 years old on the date of registration. I understand that minors are not permitted to participate under any circumstances, even with parental or guardian consent. I acknowledge that providing false information regarding my age may result in removal from the roster and disqualification from any official recognition.
2. Assumption of Risk
I understand that participating in the T5 involves risks including, but not limited to:
- Slips, trips, and falls
- Rockfall, wildlife encounters, and environmental hazards
- Dehydration, heat illness, hypothermia, altitude sickness
- Navigation errors, getting lost, or becoming stranded
- Vehicle accidents while driving between trailheads
- Equipment failure
- Weather changes, including storms, wind, and low visibility
- I voluntarily assume full responsibility for all such risks.
3. Personal Responsibility
I acknowledge that:
- The T5 is not a race, guided event, or supervised activity.
- I am solely responsible for my own safety, decisions, navigation, and preparedness.
- I will carry appropriate gear, food, water, and navigation tools.
- I will obey all trail rules, closures, and local regulations.
- I will use good judgment and may stop or turn around at any time.
4. Physical Fitness & Medical Condition
I certify that:
- I am physically capable of completing strenuous mountain travel.
- I have no medical conditions that would make participation unsafe.
- I am solely responsible for managing my health during the challenge.
5. Release of Liability / Hold Harmless Agreement
To the fullest extent permitted by law, I hereby release, waive, and discharge the Tahoe Five Peaks Challenge, its owners, organizers, affiliates, volunteers, contractors, partners, and any associated entities (“the organizers”) from any and all liability, claims, demands, actions, or causes of action arising out of or related to any loss, damage, injury, or death that may occur as a result of my participation in the Tahoe Five Peaks Challenge.
This release applies to all risks, whether known or unknown, including but not limited to those arising from:
- Hiking, trail running, or outdoor travel
- Navigation errors or route choices
- Weather, wildlife, or environmental hazards
- Driving between trailheads
- Equipment failure
- My own actions or inactions
- The actions or inactions of others
- Any conditions on or around the trails or public lands
I agree to indemnify and hold harmless the organizers from any claims brought by me, my family, my estate, or any third party arising from my participation in the challenge.
6. Emergency Contact
I confirm that I have provided an accurate emergency contact who can be reached during my attempt.
7. Accuracy of Information
I certify that all information I provide during registration and time submission is truthful and accurate.
8. Public Recognition (Optional)
I consent to the publication of my:
- Name
- City
- Completion date

9. Agreement
By checking the box below, I acknowledge that I have read, understood, and agree to this Participant Waiver & Assumption of Risk. I understand that this agreement is binding and applies to my participation in the Tahoe Five Peaks Challenge.
