    Influenza Testing Appointment

  • At the time of your appointment please pull up to the REAR DOOR of the pharmacy and call us at 336-570-2273 to let us know you are here. One of our staff will come out to administer the test and get vital signs. The test takes approximately 15 minutes.

    If your test is positive for flu, we may prescribe medication for you as long as you meet criteria (i.e. have had symptoms for <48 hours, are at least 5 years of age, do not have end stage renal disease/are not on dialysis, blood pressure/oxygen isn't too low and temperature/respiratory rate aren't too high).

  • If you have been experiencing symptoms for more than 48 hours, treatment with an antiviral agent will be of little to no benefit. We can proceed with testing to determine if you have COVID or Flu and advise on the best supportive care, and when to seek a higher level of care.

  • Are you on dialysis or has a doctor ever told you that you have kidney failure?*
  • Patients with end stage renal disease (ESRD) on dialysis will need to follow up with their primary care physician. We can still perform the test to determine if you have COVID or the Flu but will be unable to provide treatment.

  • Have you received the influenza vaccine in the last 2 weeks?*
  • Have you ever had side effects from taking flu medication in the past? (such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dizziness, abdominal pain, difficulty breathing, wheezing)*
  • Have you ever had an allergic reaction to oseltamivir (Tamiflu) or Xofluza? (rash,swelling, trouble breathing)?*
  • Have you taken prescription medication for the flu in the last 4 weeks? (Tamiflu, Xofluza)*
  • If you are currently taking or have taken an antiviral medication for the flu within the past 4 weeks, we will not be able to dispense any treatment today. We can proceed with testing to determine if you have COVID-19 or the Flu and advise on the best supportive care. We encourage you to follow up with your primary care provider.

  • Have you been taking any medication that would suppress your immune system for more than 2 weeks? (prednisone, other steroids or immune modulators)*
  • Have you ever had an organ or stem cell transplant and are you currently taking medication to prevent your body from rejecting it?*
  • Has a doctor ever told you that you have a weakened immune system due to a condition you were born with?*
  • Do you have sickle cell anemia?*
  • Have you been diagnosed with HIV or AIDS?*
  • Do you use oxygen at home or need extra oxygen to help you breathe?*
  • Are you 19 y.o. or younger and take aspirin daily or on a regular basis for a health condition?*
  • Has you doctor ever told you that you have kidney problems or kidney disease but that you don't need dialysis?*
  • Has your doctor ever told you that you have breathing problems such as asthma, COPD, or cystic fibrosis?*
  • Has your doctor ever told you that you have heart problems such a as heart disease, heart failure, blocked arteries or problems with blood flow to your heart?*

  • Are you of American Indian or Alaska Native descent?*

      If treatment is appropriate, we can dispense Oseltamivir (Tamiflu) or Xofluza. Oseltamivir will be a $0 copay. Xofluza may incur an additional cost depending on insurance coverage.
