Meditation with Uma Laura Rose
Course Description:
Registration includes 4 Classes + a Free Introductory Session, details below.
Free Introductory Session: Discussion of the benefits, history and mechanics of meditation.
- Location: OCAF Main Gallery
- Dates: Tuesday 1/20, 10am or Wednesday 1/21, 7pm
Session I: Private personal instruction into meditation: 2 hrs.
- Location: Uma Laura Rose's Studio
- Dates: 1/22, 1/23, or 1/24 (students will sign up for a time).
Session II, III, and IV: Group instruction based on experiences: 2 hrs/each.
- Location: OCAF Main Gallery
- Dates: Tuesday 1/27 at 7pm, Thursday 1/29 at 7pm, and Tuesday 2/3 at 7pm
Fee: Pay what you will, suggestion of $100 to $500. "Shouldn't cause harm, should cause a pinch." All proceeds will be donated back to OCAF by Uma Laura Rose.
About the Instructor:
For more than 50 years, Uma Laura Rose has assisted people in opening their hearts, minds and bodies to the healing power of pure consciousness through silent meditation. In 1972 Maharishi Mahesh Yogi personally trained Uma to teach Transcendental Meditation (TM). From 1972 to 1976 she taught hundreds of people to meditate in Georgia, Alabama, and Mississippi. Maharishi suggested she go to graduate school where she conducted scientific research on meditation and charismatic leadership. In 1983 she completed her Ph. D. and joined the faculty of Maharishi International University.
In 1990 Uma left Maharishi International University to live in an Ashram in India. During her 12 years there she spent many months in silent retreats and studying with several great teachers of meditation. She has been blessed with the personal guidance of her teacher Amma. Every great teacher Uma has studied with has encouraged her to be of service to others as a teacher. Uma’s gift for clear explanations of often very subtle concepts has made her an exceptional teacher able to guide the novice and the advanced student on their personal meditation path.
Upon returning to the United States, Uma continued to teach meditation. She also spent time as a middle school teacher, which is a significant education in the magnificence of humanity. At present, Uma lives in Watkinsville, Georgia teaching those who have a desire to live a peaceful life.
