Lost Canadians Family Research Request
  • Lost Canadians Research Request

You May Already Be Canadian. Let’s Find Out.
  • A recent change to Canadian law (Bill C-3) means many people born abroad to Canadian parents — even across generations — may now be Canadian by birth.

So whether you are looking to understand your family history or prove your Canadian descent, our job is to help you discover if that’s true for you.

  • How the Process Works
We keep our fees transparent and accessible for all clients:

    Step 1: Essential Roots Search — $99

We begin with a focused review of your ancestry to assess if a Canadian ancestor connection is likely and traceable to one direct Canadian.

    • We'll generate a written and video report summarizing our findings
    • You will own the results in your Ancestry tree and digital copies provided.
    • We will make a recommendation on if we believe a Canadian ancestor exists.

If we find an ancestor is a promising lead to being Canadian:

    • We will give you action steps to carry the research forward on your own.
    • And create an invitiation to sign up for us to do the work for you on Step 2, if you choose.

    Step 2: Family Story+ Research Package — $499

If you elect to have us complete the research for this single Canadian ancestor:

    • Your initial $99 will be credited toward this package.
    • We will continue to a full genealogical report to a single Canadian ancestor, including:
      • A visual family tree of descent
      • Reasonably exhaustive proof of digital (non-certified) primary records
      • When primary records are not availble, derivitive research will be provided with backup documentation
      • All work will be cited
    • This source-cited research can be used for your personal records
    • We will give action items for you to pursue if it will be in use for a Proof of Citizenship application, for instance:
      • Templates and application instructions and links on how to legally request records as a direct descendant.
      • Templates application instructions on how to legally request Evidence of 'no record' from archives and legal entities.
  • We work to keep your information safe.

    • Name
    • birth date
    • date of death

For anyone deceased, use of their name is helpful, for instance:
