Demo Day: Emotional and Physiological Burnout
Burnout is more than exhaustion. It is a whole-system state that affects emotional regulation, physiological functioning, and our capacity to connect, think clearly, and feel resourceful. When stress and demand accumulate faster than recovery, the nervous system begins to shut down vitality in order to protect us , and burnout develops.
This Demo Day will explore how stress physiology, emotional overwhelm, and chronic activation shape burnout, and how to support recovery using a somatic lens. We will look at how to recognize signs of sympathetic over-drive, dorsal collapse, and the subtle moments of shutting down that often go unnoticed.
The day will include:
- 2 live SE™ demonstrations with volunteers
- Then we will review the recording to explore key moments
- Discussion of emotional and physiological patterns in burnout
- How to track rising activation, collapse, and return of energy
- Gentle strategies for regulating, resourcing, and restoring capacity
The focus is on understanding how burnout happens in the nervous system, how it shows up in the body, and how to support the re-emergence of vitality, presence, and choice. Participants will leave with a deeper appreciation of the body’s wisdom in protecting us, and practical ways to help the system find its way back toward engagement, energy, and connection
