About the event:
Join us for a relaxed weekend of life drawing and mindfulness. Guided by passionate experts in both fields, you will explore the art of capturing the human figure together with a series of mindfulness and creative exercises.
Whether you are experienced in life drawing and mindfulness or completely new to either practice, this weekend will ensure an enriching and personal journey. We will work with a live nude model in a series of short and extended poses, drawing in beautiful locations throughout Braziers Park.
Materials are provided, including graphite, charcoal, paper and drawing boards. If you would prefer to use an easel or your own medium for sketching on paper, you are welcome to bring those along.
Beyond the artistic pursuit, we will uncover the transformative potential of life drawing as a standalone mindfulness practice. One that quietens the mind, softens the day-to-day, and brings us fully into a state of presence and awareness.
About the facilitators:
This session is led by our resident artist, Asia Cybele, with meditation and mindfulness sessions facilitated by our Community Coordinator Sam Settle and community resident Simon Stanley.
Asia is a figurative artist and a frequent participant in life drawing sessions around the world, both as an artist and a model. Her background in set design, art direction, and theatre enables her to create thoughtful, unique staging for the model, with an emphasis on collaborative creativity and personal symbolism. Asia is deeply interested in exploring personal motivations in art and in sharing creative journeys – often sparking inspiring discussions, playful exercises, and show-and-tell moments during the retreat.
