  • The Fantastical World of Wearable Art

  • This is a call for wearable art, dipping into the world of fantasy, costume design, and fashion ideas that merge and float between art, fashion, and craftsmanship.
    Deadline for submissions is February 15, 2026 and artists will be notified March 10th, 2026. A $20.00 flat submission fee covers the cost of the gallery rental. Artists may submit up to ten pieces each.

    The exhibit will be on display in the second-floor gallery of the Los Angeles Makery in Little Tokyo, 260 S. Los Angeles St, LA, CA 90012 and will run April 2nd – May 26th, 2026. Curated by A. Laura Brody and Lisa Tomczeszyn.

    INSTALLATION DATES:
    March 29th, 2026, 5-7 PM & March 31st, 12-6 PM. All work must be delivered in person.
    PICK-UP DATES:
    Sunday May 24th 2-4 PM after the closing party OR Tuesday May 26th 12-6 PM

    To Submit via JotForm:

    • Fill out required information (name, email, phone number, and online link such as a website or social media account)
    • Upload your image(s) labeled with your last name, first name, and the title of the work. For example: Jones.Martha.paintedkimono.jpg
    • Provide a 1-2 sentence description of each piece being submitted. Please include the title, date the work was completed, dimensions (height x width x depth), materials used, price, and any pertinent information about the work and its meaning or context.

    Details:

    • We encourage submissions from a wide range of perspectives and media.
    • All submissions must be artist crafted and wearable. Art that is strictly for display or is more that 50% commercially produced is not eligible. For example, an embroidered and upcycled piece of clothing is submittable, but a commercially printed t-shirt is not.
    • Artist needs to provide the method of display, such as a dress form, mannequin, or stand with a hanger.
    • There are no strict limits on the size of the artworks, but please contact us if the works are larger than 5' across.
    • Artwork must be original to the maker with no copyright violations!
    • No hardcore pornographic or uncensored explicit images, no blood, torture, violence, or cruelty depicted.
    • If this work is still in process or concept mode please include illustrations and a statement about how you plan to build the piece.
    • The Los Angeles Makery will be responsible for all sales. A 30% commission will be applied, so please price your work accordingly.
    • Artists must hand deliver art to the Gallery and pick up art at close of show.
    • No shipped items will be accepted.
