Whether you’re a beginner learning the basics or a vintage lover wanting to upcycle and repair your favorite finds, our classes are designed to inspire creativity and confidence.   • GREAT NEWS! ALL SEWING CLASSES LISTED BELOW ARE ALL SKILL LEVELS, ALL AGES. Never sewn but thrive on learning in a small hands on setting? We start every class from the top- understanding and threading your machine! 

    Don't have your own sewing machine? We offer a variety of well serviced machines available for rent but we PREFER YOU BRING YOUR OWN MACHINE IF POSSIBLE!  Our goal is for students to feel confident in independent home sewing after just one class! Get aquainted with the machine you intend on using in your sewing journey or rent one of ours until you aquire your own! 

    What should you bring to class?  All classes vary in supply list but every student at every class should bring your SEWING MACHINE, FABRIC SCISSORS, STRAIGHT PINS/ SEWING CLIPS, SEAM RIPPER, MEASURING TAPE, ALL PURPOSE POLYESTER THREAD, BOBBINS COMPATIBLE WITH YOUR MACHINE (2), NOTEBOOK FOR SEWING NOTES. IF YOU ARE RENTING A MACHINE, ALL LISTED NOTIONS ABOVE WILL BE PROVIDED. Forgot something walking out the door? Don't fret we will have all supplies on hand during class but would like YOU to have your own ready-to-sew kit at your fingertips during and after class!

      WATERPROOF SWIMSUIT TOTE W/ JESS WEDNESDAY 8/26- 5:45-8:30 AT VINTAGE EXCHANGE . It’s the middle of summer and we want to encourage you to get in the water as often as possible! Live an on the go aquatic lifestyle with your custom made wet bag! Throw your wet suit into a waterproof, washable tote and roll on with your day without compromising the rest of your contents in your bag! We provide all the fabric material- waterproof and outer layer but if you have a couple pieces of 12”x12” fabric you’d love to use for your bag, bring it! Rental machines are available but we always suggest to bring your own machine that you plan on using on your sewing journey!

      BIAS CUT SLIP DRESS SIZE 6-20 / 2 PART CLASS SUNDAY 8/30+9/6 5:30-8:30 W/ Kathleen AT VINTAGE EXCHANGE. ALL AGES AND SKILL LEVELS! Learn the ins and outs of paper patterns and fabric grain! Katie starts from the basics 👌 - reading and understanding what a pattern calls for, sizing, yardage, etc. After an in-depth discussion of fabric grain and bias cuts, we dive into cutting our desired size out of a second hand flat sheet! Patterns will be offered based on measurements taken for a perfect fit! This class is excellent for anyone who has been curious about how to make garments that perfectly fit your measurements! The first class on July 15th is reserved for measuring and cutting on the bias. The second class September 6TH is all about sewing! We will be loop turning, hemming and sewing up those seams! What should you bring to class? Rent or bring your SEWING MACHINE FABRIC SCISSOR STRAIGHT PINS or SEWING CLIPS SEAM RIPPER MEASURING TAPE ALL PURPOSE POLYESTER THREAD BOBBINS COMPATIBLE WITH YOUR MACHINE (2) NOTEBOOK FOR SEWING NOTES MATERIAL IS NOT PROVIDED ALSO TO BRING: Flat bed sheet (pick one up second hand or use one you'd like to retire!) to practice spacing, cutting and assembling.       We have a great cast of locals who lead and choose the topics for these classes! Every weekly class is designed to take a complete beginner to an independent home sewer in just one session! Suggestions for future class are always considered, please email us at vintageexchangejax@gmail.com if you are interested in instructing or have a great class idea you do not see listed above!

    • A minimum of two students is required for each class. If a class doesn’t meet that minimum, you’ll receive a refund or have the option to transfer to another session.

       

      CANCELLATION/REFUND POLICY:

      But if we are notified 48 Hours before class, we will allow an one-time selection of another class at a later date.
