    Don't have your own sewing machine? We offer a variety of well serviced machines available for rent but we PREFER YOU BRING YOUR OWN MACHINE IF POSSIBLE!  Our goal is for students to feel confident in independent home sewing after just one class! Get aquainted with the machine you intend on using in your sewing journey or rent one of ours until you aquire your own! 

    What should you bring to class?  All classes vary in supply list but every student at every class should bring your SEWING MACHINE, FABRIC SCISSORS, STRAIGHT PINS/ SEWING CLIPS, SEAM RIPPER, MEASURING TAPE, ALL PURPOSE POLYESTER THREAD, BOBBINS COMPATIBLE WITH YOUR MACHINE (2), NOTEBOOK FOR SEWING NOTES. IF YOU ARE RENTING A MACHINE, ALL LISTED NOTIONS ABOVE WILL BE PROVIDED. Forgot something walking out the door? Don't fret we will have all supplies on hand during class but would like YOU to have your own ready-to-sew kit at your fingertips during and after class!

      Cozy to Couture with Doug JULY 12TH AT BUCHNER'S BIERHALLE ANTIQUARIUM 4PM-7PM. ALL AGES AND SKILL LEVELS :) Get to know your machine while tackling woven materials! Transform a tapestry woven blanket into a patternless-poncho! Doug leads us thru slicing and dicing our blankets with desired sleeve length, crop and trim. Instructors will run the raw woven pieces thru a serger while students thread their machines. To end the class we will construct the side seams and hem the neckline + body. What should you bring to class? Rent or bring your SEWING MACHINE, FABRIC SCISSORS, STRAIGHT PINS/ SEWING CLIPS, SEAM RIPPER, MEASURING TAPE, ALL PURPOSE POLYESTER THREAD, BOBBINS COMPATIBLE WITH YOUR MACHINE (2), NOTEBOOK FOR SEWING NOTES.       BIAS CUT SLIP DRESS SIZE 6-20 / 2 PART CLASS WED JULY 15TH-22ND 5:45-8:30 W/ KATIE AT VINTAGE EXCHANGE. ALL AGES AND SKILL LEVELS! Learn the ins and outs of paper patterns and fabric grain! Katie starts from the basics 👌 - reading and understanding what a pattern calls for, sizing, yardage, etc. After an in-depth discussion of fabric grain and bias cuts, we dive into cutting our desired size out of a second hand flat sheet! Patterns will be offered based on measurements taken for a perfect fit! This class is excellent for anyone who has been curious about how to make garments that perfectly fit your measurements! The first class on July 15th is reserved for measuring and cutting on the bias. The second class on July 22nd is all about sewing! We will be loop turning, hemming and sewing up those seams! What should you bring to class?       We have a great cast of locals who lead and choose the topics for these classes! Every weekly class is designed to take a complete beginner to an independent home sewer in just one session! Suggestions for future class are always considered, please email us at vintageexchangejax@gmail.com if you are interested in instructing or have a great class idea you do not see listed above!
    • A minimum of two students is required for each class. If a class doesn’t meet that minimum, you’ll receive a refund or have the option to transfer to another session.

       

      CANCELLATION/REFUND POLICY:

      NO REFUNDS

      But if we are notified 48 Hours before class, we will allow an one-time selection of another class at a later date.
