Event Dates: January 19–25, 2026
Registration Opens: November 7, 2025
Entry Deadline: January 18, 2026
(No refunds after December 31, 2025)
Entry Fee: $50
Eligibility: Open to artists aged 18 and older. Participants must be present in Galveston during competition week.
Requirements: Submit an image of your work and an artist bio with your application.
Event Overview
Welcome & Check-In: Monday, January 19, 10:00 AM at The Grand 1894 Opera House (Edna’s Room). All materials will be stamped during check-in.
Painting/Drawing Period: January 19–25 (official start at 12:00 PM).
Artwork Submission Deadline: Friday, January 23, 12:00 PM at MARMO (2121 Market Street). No exceptions.
Exhibition & Awards: Saturday, January 24, 6:00–9:00 PM during Art Walk at MARMO. Awards announced at 7:30 PM.
Sales Policy:
Artists are responsible for all sales of their own work and may use their preferred payment methods (e.g., cash, check, Venmo, Square). ARTS Downtown GTX does not process sales or collect payments.
Location Selection
Registered artists may select a painting location from a provided list (available January 12, 2026).
Locations are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis; some may accommodate up to two artists.
A Mix & Mingle event for participating artists will be held Wednesday, January 21, 2026 (location TBA).
Prizes
$2,000 in Total Awards
1st Place: $1,000
2nd Place: $600
3rd Place: $400
Judging
Saturday, January 24: 1:00–3:00 PM — Judging by local art experts.
Public Exhibition: During Art Walk, 6:00–9:00 PM at MARMO.
Awards Presentation: 7:30 PM.

Competition Guidelines
Artists may submit up to three (3) pieces for judging.
All artwork must be created during the event using officially stamped materials.
Each submission must be framed, wired, and ready to hang with a minimum sale price of $300.
Unsold artwork may remain on exhibit at MARMO for continued public viewing. All remaining pieces must be retrieved by Sunday, February 1, at 12:00 PM (noon).
Exhibition Details
All submitted artwork will be displayed at MARMO (2121 Market Street).
Awards will be presented during Art Walk at 7:30 PM.
Additional Rules
Artists retain full copyright of their work.
ARTS Downtown GTX reserves the right to photograph artwork for promotional use.
Artwork left unclaimed after 30 days becomes the property of ARTS Downtown GTX.
Artists are encouraged to carry their own insurance. ARTS Downtown GTX is not responsible for loss or damage.
