MODArts Dance Collective's (MADC) 2027 Collective Thread Dance Festival Open Call - Live Performance Only
The 2027 open submission call is Monday, October 26, 2026 - 11:59PM EST on Monday, November 30, 2026. There is a $10 application fee. There is no participation fee if chosen. All artists will be notified by 11:59PM EST on Monday, December 7, 2026. If chosen, artists will sign a letter of agreement to confirm her/their participation in the dance festival by 11:59PM EST on Monday, December 21, 2026. Participating choreographers will present in one of the evening festival concerts on either Friday, March 19th or Saturday, March 20th 7PM at Speyer Hall @ University Settlement, 184 Eldridge Street, NY, NY 10002, with livestream and an on-demand option. All chosen choreographers presenting their piece on Friday, March 19th will have the option of blocking/spacing and a run-through of their piece on Monday, March 15th between 1:30-2:45PM; tech/dress rehearsal on Wednesday, March 17th between 10AM-3PM; and an evening concert on Friday, March 19th, 7PM at Speyer Hall @ University Settlement, 184 Eldridge Street, NY, NY 10002. All chosen choreographers presenting their piece on Saturday, March 20th will have the option of blocking/spacing and a run-through of their piece on Tuesday, March 16th between 1:30-2:45PM; tech/dress rehearsal on Thursday, March 18th between 10AM-3PM; and an evening concert on Saturday, March 20th, 7PM at Speyer Hall @ University Settlement, 184 Eldridge Street, NY, NY 10002. All participating choreographers will receive free professional photos taken during dress rehearsal and performance footage no later than 3 weeks after the festival. All presenting choreographers’ voices will be amplified through a minimum of 6 weeks of advertising & marketing. Please note: Applications will not be reviewed by the selection panel if the application fee hasn't been submitted. Application fees are nonrefundable. MADC does not provide honorariums and/or travel & lodging stipends to presenting artists.

Artists can submit one of the following work samples with their application + $10 application fee: A new work or work in progress that can be performed live during the one evening concert of the festival (rehearsal footage) A completed work that can be performed live during the one evening concert of the festival (performance or rehearsal footage) If the dance work (new, work in progress, or previously performed) is longer than 8 minutes, please include the cue start and cue end timestamps that would be performed if chosen (For example: Cue Start: 5:15-13:15). Please no promo, piece excerpts, or sizzle videos. All submitted dance pieces are 2-8 minutes long.
