  • Amity Township Certificate of Fitness Applications are required for individuals or companies performing activities related to fire safety within the community.  The types of operations include but are not limited to the following:

    ·        All Fire Protection and Suppression systems

    ·        Hood and Duct installation/inspection/cleaning

    ·        Fire Extinguishers inspections

    ·        Commercial Generator installation, testing, inspection

    A Certificate of Fitness is a written document issued by Amity Township to any person or company for the purpose of granting permission to such person(s) to conduct or engage in any operation or act for which certifications are required.  The certificate of fitness provides evidence that the person or company performing work is qualified, experienced, trained, skilled and competent, as well as properly licensed and insured. 

    A Certificate of Fitness may be revoked or cancelled because of the applicants’ inability to comply with the provisions of the code, inadequate or inappropriate workmanship or false statements and misrepresentations.

    There is a $100 fee for the Certificate of Fitness, which will be due upon issuance. The license will be valid for two (2) years from date of issuance.

  • Fire Safety Inspection Standards

    1. Company must provide proof of licensure to operate in Pennsylvania (if applicable)
     

    2. Certificate of general liability and professional Liability Insurance
     

    3. Proof that employees are covered by Pennsylvania Workers Compensation (verified through Dept of Labor & Industry)
     

    4. Must prioritize safety and ensure a safe work environment – OSHA approved best practices.
     

    5. Companies performing the services must comply with standards of the NFPA, International Fire Code, and International Property Maintenance Codes.
     

    6. Inspection/testing reports for fire safety systems must be uploaded to the Brycer Complaint Engine within 10 business days of completion of work.

    ·         Automatic fire alarm testing

    ·         Sprinkler system testing & Inspections

    ·         Fire hood suppression testing & inspections

    ·         Emergency generator testing

    ·         Hood & duct inspections and cleaning

    7. Inferior workmanship or fraudulent practices will result in revocation of Certificate of Fitness.
