Genre Categories

Engineering

Engineers must be Hawai‘i residents to be eligible in this category. Engineers must have contributed to a minimum of 51% of the recording Hawai‘i residents in order to be eligible. PLEASE NOTE: ONCE THE DEADLINE HAS PAST YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO ADD ANY MORE NAMES TO YOUR SUBMISSION. There are two different engineering categories. Album releases accepted into Hawaiian Album, ‘Ukulele Album and Slack Key Album of the Year as well as EPs and compilations that meet the quantum for these categories are eligible for Hawaiian Engineering category. All others will be placed in the General Engineering category. You will be required to provide two (2) tracks of the engineer’s choice in WAV format that best exemplify the engineer’s craft. See the Entry Guidelines for details.

Hawaiian Language Performance

Only Album and EP releases are eligible in this category. This category requires that 75% of the tracks contain performance sung in the Hawaiian language. U.S. Mainland resident artists are eligible in this category; foreign residents are not eligible. Albums and EPs that are compilations of various artists and anthologies are not eligible for the Hawaiian Language Performance Award.
