The Story of My Name: A Guided Workshop for K–12 Classrooms

This workshop is designed to be teacher-led, with full guidance, training, and materials provided by DEEP Coalition. We equip you with everything you need to confidently facilitate the experience in your own classroom—no prior experience required.

Teachers play an active role in leading the workshop, and parents are warmly encouraged to participate when possible.

Students will be introduced to their personalized avatars, created by DEEP Coalition—a global movement focused on mental health, voice development, and thought leadership. Using these avatars, students will build a storyboard presentation that helps them explore and express their unique voices.

The workshop begins with reflection on the meaning and personal significance of each student’s name, then moves into creative writing activities that support self-discovery and identity development. It concludes with a classroom presentation, where students share their stories and connect with their peers.

This experience promotes well-being, creativity, and self-expression. When students feel seen, heard, and valued, they’re better prepared to thrive—in school and beyond.

A teacher should be present during the session to guide students and provide support with writing or technology as needed.

Custom Avatars (Pre-Workshop): Before the workshop, please provide a recent waist-up photo of each student so we can create their personalized avatars. Simple smartphone photos work perfectly. You may share a "folder link" with the photos below, or we can collect them during or shortly after the training session. Please name each file with the student’s first name to ensure consistency when we create and distribute the avatars.
