Are walkers allowed to do the 5k?

What time does the race start?
The 5k starts at 8:30 AM and the Little Reindeer Run starts at 9:45 AM.
Is there a cutoff time for the 5k?
Yes, there is a cutoff time. The 5k must be completed in 1 hour and 15 minutes. The 5k course will close at 9:45AM.
Are strollers allowed?
Yes, strollers are allowed. However, children must remain in strollers - for safety reasons, children are not allowed to walk at any point on the 5k race course.
Are pets allowed?
No, for safety reasons pets are not allowed at this event. No pets may be left in vehicles, either. Please leave all pets at home!
Is the 5k chip timed? Are there awards?
No. Since the Reindeer Run is a fun run, chip and race timing are not provided, and there are no awards for finish placement.
Is the Little Reindeer Run only for little kids?
No, all ages are welcome to participate in the Little Reindeer Run! The "little" is for the course size, not age!
Why are kids 11 and under not allowed to do the 5k?
Due to the nature of the 5k course and intersections with traffic that will be managed by police officers, we cannot allow younger kids/tweens to participate even if they are capable of safely running a 5k distance.
What is the policy for youth participating? Can they show up without a parent?
Participants under the age of 18 must have a parent/guardian/responsible adult over the age of 18 present at the event with them and that person must be listed on the youth's registration.
I registered my child for the Little Reindeer Run. Can I run it with them if I registered for the 5k? Do I have to pay extra?
If you register for the 5k then you are welcome to run the Little Reindeer Run with your child with no additional registration fee!
I registered for the 5k. Can my child run the Little Reindeer Run without a registration?
No, children will not be able to participate in the Little Reindeer Run without registering. We must have names of all participating youth so that we have emergency contacts, a parent/guardian signature, and liability waivers on file.
What if I don't want to walk/run at all but want to register my child for the Little Reindeer Run?
If your child is old enough and capable enough to complete the 0.5 mile course on their own, then they may participate without a parent/guardian doing the course with them (ie. age 7 and up). However, if your child is young or you believe that they will need a trusted adult present with them at any point during the 0.5 mile walk/run, then please create a separate adult registration for the Little Reindeer Run so that you or another trusted adult can be present with them on the course.
Will there be any water stations?
There will be one water station on the 5k course (exact mileage TBD). There will not be one on the Little Reindeer Run course.
Will there be any medicall staff at the event?
Yes, we will have a first aid tent at the race start/finish and a first aid kit at the one water station on the 5k course. First aid may be manned by either volunteers or trained medical professionals depending upon availability.
When can I pick up my race packet with my shirt and antlers?
Pickup will be on:
Friday, December 6 from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM and 3:30 PM - 6:30 PM, at the Valley View Ag Barn (Located behind John Kassen Stadium, doors on north side);
OR
The morning of the race from 8:00 AM - 8:30 AM for the 5k and from 8:00 AM - 9:45 AM for the Little Reindeer Run.
