    Portishead Carnival 2026
  • When is Carnival 2026?
Carnival 2026 will be held on Saturday 13th June.
The parade will leave the lake grounds at 12 noon, and the parade will terminate on Clevedon Road outside the Show field.

We are actively encouraging individuals, small / large groups, schools, organisations and businesses throughout Portishead to get involved in the parade to help create that magical feeling. Entrance can either be a walking part of the parade or create an imaginative float. For those concerned about the regulations,
Health & safety and insurances for a float, don’t panic. Our committee members have walked this minefield
and are on hand to walk you safely through the whole process.

    Why book early?
The Carnival has been a valued annual community event in Portishead since 1902, attracting thousands of
people from the town and surrounding areas. April 2026 is the cut off time for parade entries.

Can I Collect for another Charity during the parade?
Unfortunately, no, as we have a licence in place that only covers our buckets. We must conform with the terms of our licence and therefore can’t allow others to collect during the parade.

Do I Need Third Party Liability Insurance?
All parade entries are required legally to have third party liability insurance in place. Once your booking has been confirmed a member of our H&S team will contact you to forward a copy of your certificate.

Do I require a Risk Assessment?
Portishead Carnival Committee want the event to be enjoyable and safe for all. To that end, all parade entries, will be required to supply a Risk Assessment to cover the activities being undertaken during the parade. Once your booking has been confirmed a member of our H&S team will contact you to forward a copy of your
    policy

Do I need to PAT test electrical equipment?
Yes, all electrical equipment such as speakers, bubble machines, fog machines etc, will need to be PAT tested. The health and safety team will require a copy of all pat certificates of all electrical equipment

Can I have a support car with my entry?
Yes, you can, you just need to let us know in the below form, all vehicles involved in the parade must have a valid MOT and insurance.

Why do I need to include my entry theme?
To reduce the possibility of duplicate themed entrance please give a brief description of your entrance theme. If there is a duplicate, we will offer you the opportunity to change your theme or ensure you are located separately in the parade lineup.

How Can I Enhance My Presence at The Carnival?
We have put together some very discounted rates for stall holders to advertise their presence at the show field:

Programme Advertising – Access to the show field is by programme only. You are offered a great opportunity to have a presence in the programme.

Arena Banner – A 7ft x 2ft banner advertising your company / organisation on the main arena barriers. The banner is yours to keep after carnival day so you can use it at other events.

We would also like to be able to promote your attendance at the event. So, if you have photos on your website
or social media that you want to use to promote your presence, please email them directly us.
