As we continue to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the founding of New York City (as New Amsterdam), join us as we talk about the important parts of New Netherland that often get short shrift: the outer boroughs. From the first settlers in Breucklen to the large landholdings of the squire ("johnkeer") Adriaen Van Der Donck, which today we still call Yonkers, we'll talk about Quakers in Queens, sailors on Staten Island (including a Dutchman named Vanderbilt), and families like the Broncks, the Hunts, and Morrises whose names live on in our streets and neighborhoods.
** a recording of the talk will be avaialble approximately 24 hours after the presentation for all registrants **
