Prospectus
Artists may submit up to 3 pieces for consideration for inclusion in "Art of the Still Life". Any medium may be used, 2D or 3D. There are 2 catergories for submission, a juried catergory, and a non-juried category. Artists may choose to submit works in each category, but may only submit up to three pieces overall.
Non-juried entry fee: $15 per piece
Juried entry fee: $20 per piece
Entry fees are non-refundable.
No entry fee for students, K-12 only, or for work from students attending classes at Galerie Elan, or Academy for Emerging Artists. Student work will not be juried for cash or ribbon awards, but is included in the "People's Choice" voting.
One cash prize of $100 will be awarded to the Best of Show juried entry, with ribbon awards for Best in Show, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place irrespective of medium. The public is invited to vote on their favorite for a special "People's Choice Award". Only one award is allowed for any artist.
All work except "Student" work displayed MUST be for sale. Students may CHOOSE whether to offer work for sale. Galerie Elan will retain a 15% commision on front gallery sales from member artists; 30% commission froM non-member artists. Please price your work with that in mind. To preserve the integrity of our curated exhibits, no work may be removed from the gallery until the show ends on November 29th at 9:00pm. The exception is when the buyer is from out of town and cannot return for pick up of purchased art. Otherwise, "Sold" stickers will be used to indicate sales. Checks for sales proceeds are mailed during the 1st week of the month after the exhibit has concluded.
Works must be originals, and be the intellectual property of the artist. Images projected or traced from sources not generated by the artist will not be allowed. Fine art photography is allowed in the exhibit, but digitally manipulated photos made to appear as paintings will not be accepted. Artist produced original digital work is acceptable. While tasteful fine art nudes are acceptable, work which is overtly sexual, violent, or political in nature will not be accepted.
2D work must be prepared for hanging on gallery walls with wire hangers only. Sawtooth hangers are not acceptable except on small pieces. If canvas works or wood-cradled panels are to be presented unframed, the edges must be painted or finished, and a wire hanger is required. Entries delivered without proper wiring may be rejected. 3D work not suitable for hanging will be showcased on tables and/or gallery pedestals. Please affix a tag to the back or underside of the work with the following information: Name, Title, Medium, Price.
