Before 0900 Start: Arrive by 0600

o   Check in (5-10) – Early assignment! Will check in participants as they arrive. Volunteer Check in, Coordinate with timing chips. Pass out merchandise. Sell additional merchandise or tickets (good with phones, Venmo and Square)

o   Early Set up (5-10) – Early assignment: Carrying (40-100lbs) equipment (totes, EZ ups, cases of water, etc) from station to station. Assisting Crowne Plaza with water stations. Helping Vendors locate set up areas.

During the event: Arrive by 0700

o   SCBA check outs: (5-10) - Assist handing out Air packs to firefighters. Ensure they get returned. (This requires us to be there early and late)

o   Water Station Ground Level (5-10)– Located at the entry to the stairwell. Filling and passing out water cups. Mixing electrolytes, getting ice for cooling towels.

o   Water Station 12th floor (5-10) – Take elevator to the 12th floor. Located in the entry to the ballroom. Passing out water, filling water, mixing electrolytes and getting ice

o   Stair Wells and 12th floor (5-10) – Ensure all doors are open top and bottom. Assist Crowne Plaza with fans. Monitor during the event. Clear the path on the 12thfloor. Set up flags

o   Rehab Tent (5-10) – Preferred background in the medical field (PT, EMT, Firefighter, nurse, student in medical field, Dr) Handing out cooling pads, ice, and towels to participants as they finish. Checking vital signs as needed.

o   California Market Place (5-10) – Assist with guiding sponsors and teams to their locations for tent set up. Located on the promenade between Crowne Plaza and Aloha Steak House. Set up Entry to timing mats

 After the Event: Show up before 0900

o   Clean up - Help break down tents, clean up any trash, and clear stair wells.

Volunteer Waiver

I, fully understand that my participation in the Memorial Stair Climb (hereinafter “event/class”) exposes me to the risk of personal injury, death, or property damage.  I hereby acknowledge that I am voluntarily participating in this event and agree to assume any such risks.

I hereby release, discharge and agree not to sue the Ventura Fire Honor Guard and/or The City of San Buenaventura, its officials, officers, agents, employees and volunteers for any injury, death or damage to or loss of personal property arising out of, or in connection with,  my participation in the event/class from whatever cause, including the active or passive negligence of  the Memorial Stair Climb and/or The City of San Buenaventura, its officials, officers, agents, employees and volunteers       or any other participants in the event/class.

In consideration for being permitted to volunteer in the event, I hereby agree, for myself, my heirs, administrators, executors, and assigns, that I shall indemnify and hold harmless the Ventura Fire Honor Guard  and The City of San Buenaventura, its officials, officers, agents, employees, and volunteers from any and all claims, demands actions or suits arising out of or in connection with my participation in the event.

 

I HAVE CAREFULLY READ THIS RELEASE, HOLD HARMLESS AND AGREEMENT NOT TO SUE AND FULLY UNDERSTAND ITS CONTENTS.  I AM AWARE THAT IT IS A FULL RELEASE OF ALL LIABILITY AND SIGN ON MY OWN FREE WILL.

 

If volunteer is a minor, this must be signed by the minor’s parent or legal guardian.

Volunteer Waiver and Release of Liabilty

 

Acknowledgment of Risks

I understand that volunteering involves certain risks, including but not limited to physical activity, lifting, exposure to weather, and interaction with other individuals. I voluntarily assume full responsibility for any risks of loss, property damage, or personal injury that may be sustained because of my participation.

Release of Liability

In consideration for being allowed to volunteer, I, on behalf of myself, my heirs, and personal representatives, hereby release and hold harmless Ventura Fire Honor Guard, its officers, directors, employees, agents, and volunteers from any and all liability, claims, demands, and causes of action arising out of or related to any loss, damage, or injury, including death, that may be sustained while volunteering.

Medical Treatment

I authorize Ventura Fire Honor Guard to seek emergency medical treatment on my behalf if I am injured or become ill while volunteering. I understand that I am responsible for all costs related to such treatment.

Photographic Release

I grant permission to Ventura Fire Honor Guard to use photographs or video recordings of me taken during my volunteer service for promotional or other lawful purposes, without compensation.

Volunteer Agreement

I certify that I am at least 18 years old (or have my parent/guardian’s consent if under 18) and that I have read, understood, and voluntarily agree to the terms above.
