  • 2026 NJ Elementary and Junior High School Championships

Sunday, February 22, 2026, Brookdale Community College in Lincroft, NJ
  • Scholastic tournament

This event is limited to children currently enrolled in grades K through 9. Although this is primarily a New Jersey tournament, players from out-of-state are welcome.
  • USCF membership

All players must have a current United States Chess Federation membership to play in this tournament.
  • Please sign up for a USCF membership then return to this form.

For expired members, go to the USCF membership signup page, log into your account, and renew your child's membership.

For non-members, go to the USCF membership signup page, create a new account, then pay the annual membership fee ($24 per child), then return to this form and put the eight-digit ID number in the email receipt in the box labeled "USCF ID".

If you're not sure if your child has a membership or what their ID number might be, go to the USCF player lookup page and search for them by name.

  • If necessary, you can lookup your child's USCF ID and membership expiration date at: https://new.uschess.org/player-search

  • Basic information

    Please provide the following information.
  • Section

In this tournament there are three sections based on grade level: K-2, 3-5, and 6-9. Players wanting a challenge may "play up" in a higher section. Players may not "play down" in an easier section.
  • "Playing down" within an easier group is not allowed.

  • School teams

Although this is an individual tournament, team trophies will be presented to the public or private schools that score highest in each section. There is no limit on the number of players who can represent a school, but only the top four scores (three for K-2) for that school will be combined to form the team score. Students are not required to be part of a team.
  • Requested byes

A requested bye is an instruction that a player does NOT want to play in a specific round. This is usually because the player will be late or must leave early. At this tournament, the first requested bye within the first four rounds is worth half a point. All other requested byes are worth zero points each.
