Thank you for interest in Spring Inline Hockey from the Top of Virginia Hockey Alliance.

**Development is session is currently full with 40 future hockey players. Please email info@topofvirginiahockey.com to be added to the wait list.**

We offer inline hockey options from ages 4 to 18, from the never skated to the hockey pro. All activities occur at the OUTDOOR rink at James Wood Middle School.

Our activities are Non checking/contact league. We focus on growth, fun and teamwork. To accomplish this, we employ player goal limts per game and require passing before attempting a shot on goal.

All sessions include at least 12 rink experiences (practices and games).

September 8th is player evaluation for league play and first session for development league. All activities

The following are the offerings for the Spring season.

Development League

For ages 4 to 18, aimed at first-time skaters and youth yet to play in an organized league. Players will participate in instruction and scrimmages. This league will provide your first time hockey player with the basic skills and confidence to excel in league play. Times (tentative) | Sunday afternoons 1 pm - 2pm

Recreational Leagues

4-8U League– for youth ages 4 to 8 as of December 31, 2025 with inline/ice hockey league experience, preferred. Birth years of 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020. Players will participate in instruction and games. Players will work on enhanced skill development and teamwork in a fun, upbeat environment. Times (tentative) | Sunday 2pm - 3pm with potential for activities on Saturday afternoons and/or weekday evenings.

9-18 Leagues– for youth ages 9 to 18 as of December 31, 2025 with inline/ice hockey league experience, preferred. Birth years of 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015. Players will participate in full rink practices, games and an end of season playoff. Age divisions will be determined once registration closes. Player ages in team divisions will not exceed 4 years. (ie. a 10 year old player will not compete against a 16 year old player.) Players will work on enhanced skill development and teamwork in a fun, upbeat environment. Times (tentative) | Sunday afternoons (3 pm - 7 pm) with potential for make-up/optional activities on Saturday afternoons and/or weekday evenings.

AAU Membership

Each participant must register with and purchase member insurance through the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU). The cost of insurance is $24.64 per yar and is valid from September 1st through August 31th each year.

Participants with a valid AAU member number through another sport may use the membership for the Top of Virginia Youth Inline Hockey program. AAU memberships will be valid for future inline hockey activities.

The cost of insurance is not included in the cost of the program.

To purchase an AAU Membership please visit PLAY AAU to register and select the option Hockey-Inline and Ice.

PLEASE NOTE, you can either purchase a MULTI-YEAR membership or ANNUAL membership. Membership for September 1, 2025 through August 31th, 2026.

In order to participate, all athletes must bring their membership number to the first practice (which will be in September) or provide their membership number when they are registered.

Jersey

Each player will need to have two jerseys to participant in Top of Virginia Hockey Alliance league play. The jerseys are gray and dark blue with the Top of Virginia Hockey Alliance logo on the front.

You are all set IF…

Your player already purchased TOPVA jerseys and they are still fit.

You will need to purchase a jersey or two IF your player..

1.   Is NEW to Top of Virginia Hockey Alliance league play

2.   Has only has one color jersey

3.   Has OUTGROWN of ONE or BOTH jerseys

One jersey will cost $15.

Two jerseys will cost $30.

Players will keep their jerseys and can be used in future leagues.

Extra jerseys will not be purchased to keep league costs to a minimum.

Jersey(s) can be purchased during the cart at the end of registration page.

EQUIPMENT RENTAL

Top of Virginia Hockey Alliance has a limited supply of rental equipment if your player is new to the sport or if he/she has outgrown their current equipment. Equipment rental is available on a first come, first serve basis and available for $25/season. Unfortunately, full sets of equipment are not guaranteed. Rental gear refunds will be provided if equipment is not available. Gear fitting date will be in late August.

ALL players renting gear will need to purchase inline pants on their own or purchase from TOV Hockey. Inline pants will average $20.

REQUIREMENTS TO PARTICIPATE

Hockey Gear: Mouth Guard, Helmet, Inline Skates, Gloves, Elbow Pads, Shoulder Pads, Knee Pads, Hockey Stick (Highly Recommended: girdle)

AAU DISCLAIMER

This event is licensed by the Amateur Athletic Union of the U.S.,Inc.

All participants must have a current AAU membership.

AAU membership is not included as part of the entry fee to Top of Virginia Hockey Alliance activities.

AAU Youth Athlete membership must be obtained before the child is allowed to participate with on-rink activities.

BE PREPARED! Adult and Non Athlete memberships are no longer instant and cannot be applied for at event. Please allow at least 10 days for membership to be processed.
