Please review the following before completing this application:
This is the female volunteer form. For the male volunteer link, please see our webiste. We can only take a limited number of each gender volunteer due to limited spacing. When this application is full, a waitlist application will open. This will not require a fee to register and you will be informed if another volunteer is unable to make it.
Requirements to Volunteer:
1. 14+ years of age. Volunteers will be placed as either a one-on-one buddy with a camper, or as a floater buddy to assist. Positions will be assigned based on age and experience.
2. You MUST be avaliable July 27th - July 31st, 2026. You must be present the entirety of training on July 27th and through camp, until campers have departed. If you have to leave camp early or are unable to attend, you will not be issued a refund.
3. A registration fee will be required to be paid in full before your application is approved. This fee helps offset the cost of your training, lodging, food, supplies, and t-shirt. To help accomodate for financial difficulties, the earlier you register, the lower the cost. January - February ($25); March - April ($50); May - Camp ($75). You will pay at the end of this form. You are not registered until the payment is completed. Your registration is nonrefundable.
Duties at Camp:
1. Volunteers are not required to have prior experience working with children with special needs or disabilities. Because of this, we require a full day of training prior to camper arrival. You will recieve training on these duties in more detail at that time.
2. Volunteers will be paired with a camper directly as a one-on-one buddy or placed as a floater buddy.
3. Volunteers will recieve their camper profile at the training day on July 27th. You will be briefed on your campers needs and the level of support they require. You will be trained on how to assist them if applicable.
4. Volunteers will not be allowed phones once campers arrive, they will turn them in to be kept securely until camper departure. This will keep campers safe as well as allow you time to be present with your camper.
5. Volunteers will accompany campers to each activity. Our goal is to build relationships, so you will sit with your camper at meal time, swim with them, sit with them at devotionals and worship, etc.
6. Depending on your campers level of need, you may be required to assist in helping your camper preform their activities of daily living. This may include dressing, tying shoes, showering, grooming, tolieting, etc. You will be trained on how to do this properly, and you will have at least two staff members with you to aid in these activities.
7. Volunteers will never be alone with a camper, to ensure camper safety. You will be either with your entire cabin or the entire camp during activities. If your camper requires some time away to decompress, volunteers are responsible for obtaining another non-camper to come with them to avoid being alone with a camper. This may be finding a floater buddy, member of leadership, or staff member to come with you.
8. Volunteers are expected to have fun with their camper. We aim to give these children an experience they may not be able to have at a typical camp. Since you will be with your camper from start to finish, it's your job to have fun! This may be playing a game they are interested in, encouraging them to play with friends, or singing silly songs.
9. During camper "cot time" (a nap or quiet time for campers), volunteers will be given a break. Volunteers are allowed to do what they please, but will not be allowed technology back at this time.
10. After helping put your camper to sleep at the end of the day, your cabin (volunteers and staff) will have "family time". This is a time meant to decompress, reconnect with the Lord and one another, and to prepare for the next day.
11. Volunteers will be expected to adhere to the dress code.
12. Volunteers will be expected to model Christ-like behavior for our campers (no cursing, using empowering language, and making wise decisions).
A volunteer handbook and packing list will be sent to you after completion of your application. You may email Collins@hopeshaventn.com to request the handbook prior to applying.
We look forward to seeing you!
