Phase 1: Personality & Commitment Evaluation

PHASE 1: PERSONALITY & COMMITMENT EVALUATION

This is the first step in CVC’s 2026 selection process - and the gateway to a high-performance environment that demands more, inspired by and built on world-class standards. At CVC, we want more than skill or talent. We want athletes who live and breathe our values, embrace challenge and honest feedback, and thrive in a culture built on discipline, accountability, and relentless improvement.

    WHY THIS MATTERS

Wearing CVC colours means embracing a culture that is committed fully to the pursuit of excellence. It means embracing excellence as the minimum standard. It’s not about being good sometimes - it’s about consistency, discipline, and showing up every day, for yourself and for your teammates, with the same intensity on the days you feel like it and the days you don’t.

Our best athletes are not just skilled players. They are students of the game, competitors with an unshakable passion who embrace hard work, and leaders who hold themselves accountable even when no one is watching.

This evaluation helps us understand more than just how you play. It shows us how you think, how you respond to challenges, how you lead under pressure, and whether you can thrive in a culture of honesty, feedback, and constant improvement.

It gives us a deeper look and understanding into who you are beyond skill – the teammate, the competitor, and the person behind the jersey.

    WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

We want athletes who live the DNA of a CVC Player: A Relentless Pursuer of Excellence.

At CVC, progress belongs to those who demand the most from themselves - and hold themselves accountable to that standard. Every. Single. Day.

    WHAT HAPPENS NEXT

Please allow 30–45 minutes in a quiet environment to complete this evaluation in one sitting, including the linked personality test.

Be open, honest and authentic in your responses. There are no “right” or “wrong” answers.

Completing this evaluation is mandatory to progress to Phase 2 (Fitness Evaluation) - View the Fitness Requirements here.

All responses will be reviewed, and successful athletes will be notified within 1–7 days of submissions closing.

    OUR STANDARD. YOUR STANDARD.

Representing CVC is not for everyone.

If you want a club that challenges you, invests in you, and demands the best version of you, this is where your journey begins.

CVC PROTOCOL: POSITIONAL ASSIGNMENT & SQUAD DYNAMICS

Creadaptic Volleyball Club (CVC) operates on a Merit-First basis. Selection is a continuous assessment of team balance, tactical evolution, and individual performance.

No Guaranteed Placement: While athlete preference is considered during the evaluation, final positional assignment is at the sole discretion of the CVC Selections Team. No athlete is guaranteed a specific position or squad level.

Operational Adaptability: Contingent upon an initial period of working with the athlete and improving their performance via a formal Performance Improvement Plan (PIP), CVC reserves the right to move athletes between squads or adjust divisions at any time throughout the season. These decisions are driven by behavioural expectations, player development, and our ongoing pursuit of competitive excellence.

The Commitment: You acknowledge that the interests of the team supersede individual preference. You agree to accept coaching assessments as final and to demonstrate the adaptability required of a high-performance athlete.

STATUS: By proceeding, you confirm your understanding and acceptance of these operational principles.

CVC PROTOCOL: OPERATIONAL READINESS & AVAILABILITY

Attendance is the baseline of high performance.

At CVC, we do not "expect" commitment; we require it.

The Standard: Upon selection, athletes enter a binding commitment to attend 100% of training sessions and competitive fixtures. Absence is only permitted for critical emergencies or pre-approved reasons.

    Weekly Training Load:

    Technical/Tactical: 2 x 120-minute sessions.

Mobility & Conditioning: 1 x 60-minute session (led by Fitness Cartel).

Advanced Recovery Protocol (TH7 Body Labs): To survive the weekly high-intensity technical blocks, physical recovery must be as disciplined as your on-court training. CVC provides access to advanced recovery infrastructure at TH7 Body Labs.

The Benefit: CVC athletes receive a 15% discount across the entire TH7 service suite.

Junior (Recommended Timing - Saturday): Highly recommended after the Tuesday–Friday high-intensity block to reset the central nervous system and repair tissue.

Adult (Recommended Timing - Saturday): Highly recommended as a "Pre-Activation" protocol to ensure peak physical readiness for Sunday competitive fixtures.

While Saturday is strategically optimal, athletes can utilise their 15% discount at TH7 facilities at any time throughout the week for supplemental recovery.

Operational Flexibility: Schedules, although unlikely, may change throughout the season. CVC reserves the right to adjust schedules or competition times at short notice to meet strategic needs. We will provide notice in advance of any changes.

    Match Day Schedules:

    • Junior Squads: Friday evenings.
    • Adult Squads: Sundays (Full-day availability required).

STATUS: By proceeding, you affirm that you possess the discipline and schedule control required to fulfill these operational duties.

    BRIEFING: PHASE 1 EVALUATION

Read the following directions carefully. This is the first gate of the CVC Selection Process.

Absolute Transparency: Providing answers you think we want to hear creates operational friction and eventual fallout. We value the raw truth — alignment only exists where there is honesty.

Standard Over Perfection: We are not looking for "perfect" athletes. We are looking for those with the CVC Player DNA: relentless work ethic, psychological resilience, and a commitment to the unit.

Operational Security: All data submitted is confidential. Your responses are restricted to the CVC Selections Team.

Deliberate Execution: Do not rush. Every response is a data point used to build your psychological profile. Thoughtless answers will be viewed as a lack of commitment to the process.

One-Time Protocol: This evaluation is completed once.

    EVALUATION SCOPE

You are about to be evaluated across five core psychological domains:

Domain 1: Commitment & Tactical Work Ethic
Domain 2: Resilience & Combat Mindset
Domain 3: Unit Cohesion & Culture Fit
Domain 4: Accountability & Growth Orientation
Domain 5: Alignment with the CVC Standard

Technical Support: If the system malfunctions during your evaluation, immediately contact us at info@creadapticvolleyballclub.com.au.

A CVC player is deeply in love with volleyball – not just playing, but learning, training, and mastering the details. They bring energy, intensity, and focus to every session because the game itself fuels them

They believe there is always more to give, another level to reach, and a better version of themselves to uncover. Wins and losses both serve as fuel because progress matters more than results. They understand that with progress, results will naturally follow. A CVC athlete trusts the process, commits to the long-term journey, and knows that growth is built over time. They don’t make excuses or point fingers – they look inward with honesty, and take ownership of their development and performance

They see volleyball as more than a sport; it is a craft to be refined daily. Repetition is not a chore, but the heart beat of improvement. They want every rep sharper, cleaner, and faster than the last. Each rep carries purpose – valuing the small details that they know compound over time and that lead to big results

They understand motivation comes and goes, but discipline is what sustains progress. Whether they feel like it or not, they show up, they train, and they deliver – because consistency is what separates average from elite. They build habits so strong that they can perform at an elite level on their toughest day, even when facing an opponent at their best

They measure success not only by personal improvement but by the strength of the team around them. They lift teammates, reinforce standards, and lead through action and accountability to help the entire squad succeed. A CVC player never hides behind excuses or blames others – they take ownership, contribute to solutions, and keep the collective goal above individual recognition

    THE GLOBAL BENCHMARK

Elite volleyball institutions — from USA Volleyball to the Japanese V.League academies — utilise a "Strategic Reserve" (Shadow System) to build roster depth, ensure readiness, and develop talent beyond the starting lineup.

CVC adopts this proven infrastructure to maintain operational integrity. The Shadow System serves three critical functions:

Tactical Agility (The "Versatility" Pillar): Elite competition demands specific solutions for specific challenges. The Strategic Reserve provides the club with a diverse range of technical profiles, allowing the coaching staff to adjust tactical systems or lineup configurations to exploit opponent weaknesses. Selection in this pillar signifies that your specific skill set is a vital "strategic tool" for the club’s success.

Institutional Continuity (The "Succession" Pillar): CVC is built for 2032, not just next weekend. This program identifies high-potential talent and immerses them in the CVC DNA today, ensuring that when the time comes to transition into the Primary Squad, the athlete is already culturally and technically aligned. You are not "waiting"; you are "preparing."

Competitive Tension (The "Intensity" Pillar): "Iron sharpens iron." The presence of a highly-skilled Shadow Player ensures that the training environment remains elite. It fosters a culture of high-level accountability where squad roles are validated through consistent execution and commitment to the daily standard. This ensures that every athlete, regardless of their current roster status, is pushed to reach their absolute potential.

    DEFINING THE SHADOW ROLE

Selection as a Shadow Player is a high-value designation. It identifies you as an athlete with the DNA required for the CVC system. It is not a secondary status; it is an Active Reserve position.

Total Integration: You train alongside the full squad in every session with identical intensity and expectations.

Universal Standards: You are governed by the same Code of Honour, Behavioural Expectations, and Performance Metrics.

Active Roster: You are eligible for call-ups to the match-day roster at any point.

    Required Understanding:

Non-Guaranteed Time: Selection as a Shadow Player does not grant an automatic right to match participation or tournament selection.

Tactical Readiness: You must maintain peak condition. Declining a deployment call-up may result in an immediate review of your selection eligibility.

    PATHWAY DYNAMICS

The Shadow Program is a launchpad. It is the proving ground where character is tested under pressure. Within the CVC ecosystem, Shadow Players:

    (1) May be elevated to the full squad mid-season. Discipline, commitment and performance are the primary metrics used for future promotion.

    (2) Are prioritised for call-ups in the event of injuries or roster changes.

STATUS: How you train, behave, and commit as a shadow matters as much as how you play.

CVC PROTOCOL ACCEPTANCE: THE SHADOW COMMITMENT

By proceeding, you verify your acceptance of these operational terms:

    • I acknowledge that placement (Full Squad vs. Shadow) is at the sole discretion of the CVC Selections Team.
    • I accept that both roles demand identical discipline, attendance, and compliance with the CVC Standard.
    • I understand that a Shadow role is a commitment to readiness, not a guarantee of court time.
    • I recognise that non-compliance or withdrawal from a Shadow position may impact future selection eligibility.

THE JAPANESE FOUNDATION: PHILOSOPHY, TECHNICALITY, AND EXECUTION

CVC's Elite Standard is influenced by the Japanese Model of Volleyball.

In a sport often dominated by height, the Japanese model proves that technical precision, extreme speed, and collective discipline can dismantle any opponent. Our belief is that disciplined systems will always outpace raw physical talent - such as how high a player's vertical is or how hard they can hit.

    1. The Philosophy: The Death of the "Star"

The Japanese philosophy rejects the "star player" dependency. There is no room for ego. We operate on the principle of 'Kaizen' (continuous, relentless improvement) and total collective chemistry.

Practical Meaning: You are a component of a high-speed machine. If one player fails to transition or misses a defensive assignment, the entire system breaks. We value the "unseen work" — the cover-under-the-block, the transition sprint, and the communication — as much as the kill.

The Mindset: You must be obsessed with the 1%. We don't just want you to work hard; we want you to be a student of the game who understands why we are running a specific pattern.

    2. The Training: The "Repetition is Mastery" Grind

Japanese training is famous for its volume and extreme meticulousness, frequently dedicating up to 90 minutes to a single drill focused on a single technical movement. The CVC environment closely reflects this uncompromising standard.

Technical Isolation: Expect to spend significant time on "boring" repetitions. We will isolate a single movement — the angle of your platform, the first step of your approach, the shape of your block — and repeat it until it is subconscious.

The Harada Method: We don't leave your growth to chance. You will be expected to use the 'Harada Method' (breaking down big goals into daily actions) to deconstruct your goals. This means tracking your own progress, managing your recovery, and being a self-reliant athlete who doesn't need a coach to tell them to stay focused.

Intensity: Our sessions will generally be high-tempo. We train at a pace faster than the games we play, so that on match day, the game feels like it’s moving in slow motion.

    3. Match Play: "Nippon Speed" & Defensive Suffocation - 'Fast. Relentless. Precise.'

When we step on court, our identity is defined by two things: Tempo and Tenacity.

The "Nippon Speed" Offense: We run an ultra-quick offensive system. This requires every hitter to be in a constant state of transition. You must be ready to hit a 1st-tempo ball from anywhere on the court. If you are slow to transition, you are invisible in this offense.

Defensive Floor Mastery: In the Japanese model, the ball does not hit the floor without a body hitting the floor first. We prioritise "perfect touches." A "good" dig is not enough — we train for the dig that puts the setter in a position to run a multi-option attack.

Tactical Complexity: We use deceptive offensive patterns and "time-difference" attacks to exploit taller blockers. You must have the tactical discipline to stick to the game plan even when the score is tight.

    4. What This Means for Selections

We are not necessarily looking for the tallest players or the ones with the loudest swing. We are looking for:

Technical Foundation: Can you control your platform and your touch under extreme fatigue?

Cognitive Speed: How fast do you process tactical information and adjust?

Work Capacity: Do you have the physical and mental stamina to maintain precision during long, high-repetition drills?

Coachability: Can you take a technical correction and apply it immediately, or do your old habits win?

Our program is a "high-friction" environment. It is designed to stretch you technically and mentally. If you prefer a relaxed, play-based environment, you will find our technical rigour frustrating. If you want to master the most sophisticated style of volleyball in the world, this is the only place to be.

    CVC TRAINING: THE 5-HOUR STANDARD

We believe meaningful progression requires multiple touchpoints and psychological resilience developed under load. In 2026, all competitive athletes (including Shadow Players) will adhere to a mandatory 5-hour weekly operational tempo.

    WEEKLY LOAD ALLOCATION:

TUESDAY (120 MINS): Offensive Systems & Tactical Execution | Mt Warren Park Sports Centre - 8:15 PM to 10:15 PM

WEDNESDAY (60 MINS): Recovery, Mobility & Conditioning | Fitness Cartel Beenleigh - 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM

THURSDAY (120 MINS): Defensive Systems & Phase Play | Mt Warren Park Sports Centre - 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM

🧭 Coach Discretion: This structure is a rule of thumb, not a rigid formula. Coaches have full authority to adapt duration, focus, or frequency where it benefits team cohesion, performance, or recovery needs. Adjustments are always made for the betterment of the team.

TACTICAL CROSS-TRAINING → THE 30-MINUTE BLOCK: To build high-IQ, adaptable athletes, 30 minutes of the weekly load is dedicated to Positional Versatility. Athletes will learn and train outside their primary roles to strengthen tactical awareness and universal skill sets.

ATTENDANCE MANDATE: Consistency is the engine of high performance. Attendance is mandatory. Any unavoidable circumstance must be formalised via a Training Attendance Exception Form. Fees may apply.

    CVC GAMEDAY & DUTY PROTOCOL

Professional Representation: Gamedays are the ultimate validation of our preparation. When selected, you represent CVC. Punctuality, dependability, and professionalism are the baseline requirements.

Official Duty Requirements: Technical Duty is treated with the same priority as match play. If you are scheduled for duty, your presence is mandatory. Failure to fulfill duty obligations compromises the club’s standing and disrupts team cohesion.

Communication Lead-Time: Unexpected absences must be reported via the Gameday Absence Form. We require maximum lead-time to allow coaching staff to execute contingency plans and activate Shadow Players. Late withdrawals without catastrophic cause are recorded as performance infractions and fees may apply.

THE CVC SUPPORT ECOSYSTEM: BUILT-IN INITIATIVES

High performance is only sustainable when paired with elite welfare. Our support protocols are designed to foster longevity and acknowledge your commitment:

The "Mental Timeout" Protocol: CVC recognises that mental fatigue is as detrimental to performance as physical injury. Every active athlete is entitled to call one (1) "Mental Timeout" per season — a 7-day reset from all training and matches, no questions asked.

The Birthday Benefit: We celebrate our athletes’ milestones. Eligible members receive a training fee waiver for up to two (2) sessions during their birthday month as a thank-you for their ongoing dedication to the squad.

    OPERATIONAL GOVERNANCE: GOVERNING FRAMEWORKS

To maintain a world-class high-performance environment, CVC operates under a strict set of governing frameworks. These documents are the operational rules that protect the integrity of the squad and the welfare of every athlete.

    MANDATORY REVIEW REQUIRED

    Review all frameworks at https://www.creadapticvolleyballclub.com.au/policies:

Trial, Training and Playing Policy: Embeds accountability and resilience into daily operations. It outlines the multi-phase selection process, fitness standards, and the mandatory attendance mandates for both Core and Shadow Players.

Drugs, Alcohol and Smoking Policy: We maintain a strict "Dry Zone" for all training and competition sessions. There is a zero-tolerance policy for illicit drugs and a 20-meter exclusion zone for smoking or vaping to protect the health of the athlete and those around, as well as the CVC brand.

Sexual Harassment Policy: CVC maintains a Zero Tolerance environment. We are committed to a respectful, safe, and inclusive culture where every member is responsible for upholding these standards. CVC enforces a mandatory reporting obligation for any member who witnesses conduct in breach of this policy - the standard we walk past is the standard we accept.

Protection Policy: Defines our child safeguarding mandates and anti-discrimination standards. All members are bound by the CVC Codes of Conduct (General, Athlete, and Parent), which prioritise respect and safety.

Regulatory Fines & Compliance Framework: Governs professional standards and accountability measures to ensure fairness and reliability across the entire squad.

STATUS: You confirm that you have been given the opportunity to access, and have read and understood the governing policies of Creadaptic Volleyball Club. You acknowledge that "The Standard" is built on mutual accountability, health, and respect.
