The Benscreek Canoe Club has been dedicated, since our inception in the 1970s, to promoting the sport of paddling. We have done this by organizing paddling trips and other on water activities, teaching new paddlers the skills needed to safely paddle in local rivers, and activitly working to improve both the quality of our local rivers as well as access to these waters. Our biggest accomplisments was to work with several other groups to install a whitewater release valve at Quemahoning Reservoir, create an artificial whitewater course at Greenhouse Park, and to organize an annual Whitewater Rendezvous that attracts paddlers from many states.
Our work requires funding. We raise money from annual dues and our Whitewater Rendezvous. Any excess money that is generated by the Rendezvous is held in a Community Foundation of the Alleghenies fund that is dedicated to whitewater valve repairs and maintenance of both the valve and our Whitewater Park.
We are asking businesses, organizations and people to help us in our efforts by either joining our club or making a donation here.
