Point Scoring Regulations
1. Hoof Point Scoring classes will be first—46, maximum accrued points for hoof will be 50 points. Placegetters receive a ½ point difference down to a minimum of 40 points. Unplaced entries will have a gap of 1 point from placegetters or be allocated 38 points. Judges may adjust points as judging progresses at their discretion.
2. Champions receive a maximum of 2 points. Grand Champion on the Hoof receives 2 bonus points.
3. All entries judged in the Hoof competition are automatically entered into the Hook competition and must compete.
4. Hook judging will be conducted by qualified Aus-Meat Chiller Assessors. Each carcass may receive up to 100 points as per detailed scoring criteria.
Eating Quality
Judged across all carcass classes using the MSA Eating Quality model. This model predicts eating quality of 40 muscles across 6 cooking methods. It calculates the average predicted score for 11 major primal cuts cooked optimally. Carcasses failing to meet MSA minimum standards will not receive an eating quality score.
Meat Standards Australia (MSA) Requirements
ALL steers must remain on full feed and water until dispatch from the showgrounds on Thursday, 24th September. Withdrawal of feed or water will result in disqualification and forfeiture of entry fee.
Colin Say & Co. P/L Led Steer Jackpot Competition
· Eligibility: Open to steers/heifers entered in both the Led Steer and Carcass Competitions with payment of the $30 Jackpot fee.
· Entry Fee: $30 per head (added to the total prize pool).
· Entry Deadline: Friday, 28th August 2026 (strict, no late entries).
· Divisions: Junior, Heifers, Light, Medium, Heavy.
· Prizemoney: 100% of the jackpot purse to the highest combined Hoof & Hook score.
Colin Say & Co. P/L Led Steer Incentive
For animals purchased at the CSC Potential Show Steer Sale. Two divisions (Junior & Open) – $500 winner takes all based on highest Hoof & Hook combined score. No entry fee.
Colin Say & Co. P/L Shootout
Separate class for CSC Sale purchases. $6k prizepool to be split between Vendor & Breeder. No entry fee. Points do not accrue toward the incentive.
Colin Say & Co. P/L Champions of Champions
Invitation only. Broad Ribbon Winners throughout the history of the event. 1 entry only per competitor with the exception of Grand champion winners, who will receive 1 entry per win.
The Ultimate Show Steer
Separate competition entirely. $2k entry fee with the exhibit not eligible to compete in any other section of the show. 3 Judge System.
Limousin State of Origin
Open to purebred or registered Limousin-sired cattle. Entry must include a valid breed certificate. Judging based on state of origin where exhibitor resides or where exhibit bred.
It’s A Knockout
Unlimited entries, Winner takes all, Entry is free, Its an elimination process - only ever 2 entries in the ring at a time. 3 Judge panel. Its a lot of fun!!
SPECIAL REGULATIONS
· Inspections, weighing and scanning will occur on Tuesday & Wednesday 22nd & 23rd September. All steers/heifers will be checked according to live weight guidelines. Colin Say & Co P/L, Woolworths, Bindaree and Coles reserve the right to reject any entries outside specification.
· Colin Say reserves the right to alter class weight ranges for balance across entries.
· Colin Say & Co P/L reserves the right to reject inferior entries.
· Entries outside specified weight classes will be ineligible, and fees will be forfeited.
· All exhibits MUST have nose rings.
· HGP-treated steers are not accepted.
· The Led Steer Competition is MSA-approved; all entries are eligible for MSA grading.
· All exhibitors MUST be MSA registered to enter. Register at http://registerproducer.msagrading.com.au
· PIC and MSA registration number must be supplied at entry and on show day.
· Both an NVD and MSA Vendor Declaration Form are required per exhibitor by Wednesday, 23rd September.
· To retain MSA approval, steers MUST remain on full feed and water until dispatch on Thursday, 24th September.
· Entries MUST suit supermarket trade — no permanent incisors allowed.
· All steers/heifers MUST be dehorned; regrowth not exceeding 3cm.
· All exhibits MUST be secured in allocated stalls. Unleds housed in Prime Cattle Vendor Lots.
· All entries MUST be quiet. Unruly cattle may be disqualified at discretion.
· All judged entries MUST participate in the Hook competition.
· Processing occurs at Woolworths Meats Tamworth, Bindaree Beef Inverell and Scone Abattoir Scone with normal commercial grid and chiller fees (grid provided on the day).
· Hook judging will be conducted by qualified Aus-Meat Chiller Assessors.
· All handlers must wear neat attire (dust coats, breed uniforms, or vests).
· All steers/heifers MUST have an NLIS tag.
· Exhibitors accept full responsibility for any injury, loss, or damage. Colin Say & Co P/L and associates are not liable.
· Colin Say & Co P/L is not responsible for misdelivery or damage to livestock.
· Bedding is available, but additional bedding must be supplied by the exhibitor if needed.
· Camping facilities are available.
· A full canteen will be in operation throughout the event.
