VISA Requirements:
US Citizens: The Entry/Exit System (EES) is an automated IT system for registering non-EU nationals travelling for a short stay, each time they cross the external borders of any of the European countries in the European Union that are using the system. The EES modernizes border management by increasing efficiency and quality of processes at the border and replacing passport stamping. The new Entry/Exit System (EES) will start operations on 12 October 2025 — European countries using the EES will introduce the system gradually at their external borders. This means that data collection will be gradually introduced at border crossing points with full implementation by 10 April 2026.

It will be deployed gradually across the external borders of the 29 European countries over a period of 6 months. These European countries will introduce the different elements of the EES in phases, including the collection of biometric data, such as facial image and fingerprints. This means that travelers biometric data (facial image and fingerprints) might not be collected at every border crossing point right away, and their personal information may not be registered in the system. Passports will continue to be stamped as usual. This progressive implementation will last until 9 April 2026. From 10 April 2026, the EES will be fully operational at all external border crossing points of the European countries using the system.

European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS): The European Union has created this visa waiver program to protect and strengthen its borders. The main goal of the ETIAS visa waiver for Europe is to identify possible threats or risks associated with visitors traveling to any of the Schengen Area countries. The ETIAS visa waiver program will be needed to enter a member country.

The European Union's highly anticipated European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS) has been delayed once again, pushing its implementation back to late 2026. The EU has now announced that it will only take effect six months after the gradual rollout of the Entry/Exit System (EES).

NON-US Citizens: Please contact the Embassy of the country that issued your passport for visa, EES, and/or ETIAS requirements & assistance.

The EES and ETIAS are not currently in place, you will be notified when/if the EES and the ETIAS become required for US citizens traveling to the EU.

Plan your departure from the US on August 9, 2026 to arrive in Madrid, Spain on August 10, 2026. You will be met and tansferred from the airport to the hotel in Madrid. The cruise will conclude in Villra Nova de Gaia (Porto) on August 22, 2026. All guests should disembark before 9:00 am. A taxi or transfers to the airport can be arranged by the Cruise Manager on board.

MOBILITY CLAUSE: A reasonable degree of mobility is required. Many historic villages in Europe,especially in Portugal are located on hilltops, where it is necessary to walk up and down hilly, cobblestone streets. Passengers may be required to ascend and descend flights of 12 or more stairs to board or exit the ship. Persons with a walking disability, an injury or who require a wheelchair/scooter or other mobility device must have another dedicated person traveling with them to assist with their needs.
