  • Rules and Regulations

Our rules and regulations may be found on our website or by using the link below:
  • SilverHoops Rules & Regulations

(Please review carefully; some rules may have changed or been adjusted for clarity.)

  • Release Waiver & Sportsmanship Pledge

  • Player Agreement

The spirit and intent of SilverHoops is to provide a fun, competitive environment for all to play and improve their basketball and life skills, especially in the youth divisions. We strongly discourage both parents and fans from becoming factors in the game and ask that they refrain from negative comments about game action and calls made by the Court Monitor/Marshall, regardless of how incorrect they believe the calls may have been.

Please also refer to the SilverHoops Official Rules section 14 on Crowd Control and technical fouls.

SilverHoops requires that each youth team designate one adult as the Parent/Coach. The Parent/Coach is the sole representative for the team, and is the only person, apart from players, with authority to approach the Court Monitor/Marshall during each game. The Parent/Coach is responsible for making sure the other parents and spectators of the team act respectfully.

In the youngest youth brackets, the Court Monitor/Marshall may stop play and counsel the players about certain rules before actually calling the violation and taking the ball away from the offending player’s team. These are teachable moments to help your children become better ball players.

SilverHoops hopes to instill in today’s youth the values of playing competitively within a framework of treating their opponents with dignity and respect. We hold all SilverHoops teams, in both youth and adult divisions to this standard. We expect that our adult teams will provide a good example to our youth teams. SilverHoops hopes that coaches and parents will view this as a chance to model the correct behavior for their student-athletes rather than placing an unhealthy emphasis on winning.

To maintain the level of sportsmanship expected, the Court Monitor/Marshall has the authority to stop play and ask the coach and players to change their behavior. It is the responsibility of each youth team’s Parent/Coach, and adult team’s Captain, to exert his/her influence over the players, parents, and team followers.

SilverHoops expects that if a behavior change is needed, that the only action the Court Monitor/Marshall has to take is to ask the Parent/ Coach or Captain to facilitate this change. Unsportsmanlike conduct by players, coaches, parents, or spectators may result in a technical foul, forfeiture of a game, dismissal from the tournament, and/or exclusion from future tournaments.
