  • ABOUT

  • TLT develops the leadership, interpersonal and managerial skills of high school juniors,enabling them to better serve their schools and communities.

    Participants will attend one session per month, each focused on a different topic that provides real-world experiences in the following areas:

    • community leadership
    • health care
    • STEAM
    • history and heritage
    • crime and correction
    • financial literacy
    • philanthropy
    • non-profit organizations
    • community service

     

  • SCHEDULE

  • Monthly TLT sessions will be held from October 2026 to April 2027.  Sessions are typically held on the third Thursday of each month, from 8:30 am - 2:30 pm. A mandatory orientation is held in September.  A graduation ceremony will be held in May. 

    Participants will be granted an excused absence from school on session days. Sessions are held at various locations in Lackawanna County, and transportation is the responsibility of the participant.

    Upon acceptance, a detailed schedule will be provided.

  • ELIGIBILITY, INSTRUCTIONS AND SELECTION

  • Who Can Apply

    Current sophomores who attend a public, private, parochial, charter, or approved PHAA homeschool school in Lackawanna, Susquehanna, Monroe, Luzerne, and Wyoming Counties. Participation happens in junior year. 

    Steps to Apply

    1. Complete the online application. Upon submission, a copy will be emailed to you.

    2. Have TWO reference forms completed (one school reference and one community reference).  A reference from your parent/guardian will NOT be accepted.  To submit, it is your responsibility to email the Reference Form link found below to each reference. Once complete, a copy will be emailed to your reference, and it will be electronically submitted with your online application.

    3. Have your school principal complete the Principal Approval Form.  To submit, email the Principal Approval form link found below to your school principal. Once complete, a copy will be emailed to your principal, and it will be electronically submitted with your application.  You must also print your completed application and give it to your principal for review.

    4. Submit/Mail a non-refundable $20 processing fee.

    APPLICATION, TWO REFERENCE FORMS, PRINCIPAL APPROVAL AND NON-REFUNDABLE FEE MUST BE RECEIVED BY MARCH 31, 2026.

    Selection

    • TLT has a competitive selection process, and not all applicants will be selected. Application does NOT ensure acceptance. A Selection Committee will review and score all applications based on leadership potential and interest/involvement in school and community activities. Honors and activities will be considered, but are not required.
    • Applicants will be informed of selection results in May.

     

  • TUITION AND FEES

  • Each school has its own policies and procedures regarding participation in TLT.  Please consult school officials before applying to our program. School principal approval is REQUIRED for participation, and the $460 tuition is typically paid by the school. Schools may decide to approve participation, but not tuition payment. In these cases, alternate payment options may be available.

    New this year, accepted students will be billed a $35 materials fee. More information will be included in the TLT welcome packet. 

    Refunds

    For all six programs tuition refunds are only guaranteed within TWO weeks of the first session.   After the designated period, a refund will be considered on a case-by-case basis, at the discretion of the Executive Director.

    Individuals who are dismissed from any program will not receive a refund.

    Tuition assistance is now available to all qualifying candidates - regardless of the industry or sector.

    Tuition for TLT and Core must be paid within 30 days from the start of the program UNLESS a written request regarding special payment is submitted to Leadership Lackawanna.  LL has sole discretion to accept or decline such requests.

    Tuition for WS!, Collegiate, LF 2.0 and Executive must be paid before the start of the program.

  • PARTICIPANT COMMITMENT

    1. I will attend all sessions (however, two excused absences will be allowed for personal situations and sickness)
    2. I will complete community service hours to graduate.
    3. If I need an early dismissal, or if I am late to TLT, it will be communicated with LL staff and a note from my parent/guardian will be provided.
    4. I understand that while at TLT, an excused absence from school will be granted.
    5. I understand the goals and commitments of the Tomorrow’s Leaders Today program. 
    6. If selected, I am willing to attend all required sessions/functions and devote the time necessary to be a contributing member of the class.
    7. If selected, I will pay the $35 materials fee.
    8. I have no current or pending commitments that would keep me from being an active member of the class.
    9. I understand that if I fail to meet these obligations, I may be asked to withdraw from the program.
    10. Transportation is my responsibility. However, in the event it becomes necessary, I have permission to be transported, via a fully licensed and insured chartered bus to and from sessions.
    11. I have submitted ALL application materials by the deadline of March 31, 2026.
