• Hear PAC Contribution

     

    Thank you for your interest in contributing to the Hear PAC. The Hear PAC is your only TN state level lobbying organization that supports your Hearing Instrument Specialist interests.

    The PAC has done so much for our profession over the years. Some examples include:

    • Successfully opposed bill from UT, MTSU, and the Univ of Memphis aimed at unrestricted dispensing of hearing aids.
    • Enhanced access to the profession by facilitating the acceptance of NBCHIS certification.
    • Passed the Cerumen Management Law, positioning TN as one of only four states to enact law.
    • Prevented audiologists from monopolizing the dispensing of hearing aids. Fighting against then proposed OTC Hearing Aids Legislation/Rules
    • Worked with United Healthcare to enable hearing instrument specialists to receive Hearing Dual Complete Medicaid/Medicare referrals once more.
    • Blocked legislation that would allow individuals working under an audiologist to adopt the title of hearing instrument specialist.
    • Protected autonomy of the HIS Board against attempts to merge it with another board.
    • Ensured the continued existence of the HIS Board in the Sunset Review Process. 

    Our fights and ventures come at a cost. The Hear PAC is in need of our support. We may not stand a chance to our next fight without it. Think of the PAC as being insurance for your license and livelihood.
