  • Consultation for New Clients

Beginning tax year 2025, consultations appointments will be required for all new clients.  Consultations for new clients are always free. New clients will have the opportunity to get to know Star Pro Tax as a service provider and we will like to get to know any potential new client’s situation prior to onboarding/accepting.  New client appointment times are set up for 15 minutes and you can select your preferred meeting option.  Due to lessons learned from previous tax years, new clients residing in the U.S. regardless of time zone are encouraged to choose the phone or Teams option. If you choose the "Email Consultation" meeting option and we are unable to get a clear picture of how to better serve you then a Phone or Teams meeting will be requested of you. Our intent is to not cause delays in the preparation process simply because we are unable to get questions answered. Providing you the best service possible is always our priority. You will have the opportunity to set up your appointment after submitting your intake form. We will reach out to you to set that up once your intake form is reviewed.

NOTE: If you choose email consult as your preferred meeting option, an appointment request will not be sent to you. Instead, an email consult will be sent to you and any request for information will be contained within that email.  To better serve you please provide all the required background information that will be requested in the email consult in a timely manner.  If you have any questions, please contact me at any time at starprotax@gmail.com. Thank you for understanding, thank you for interest and thank you for supporting my small veteran owened business!

    • Star Pro Tax Preparation Fees
    • Tax Preparation Fees

The Tax Prep Fee is the total cost of tax preparation by Star Pro Tax.  Costs depend on the number of forms required to prepare your return and the complexity of your tax return.  Our tax preparation process of preparing tax returns on the behalf of a taxpayer is with the assistance of tax preparation software, time and patience.  Star Pro Tax does not charge an hourly rate as we have found that it does not suit the unique situations of many of our clients. Because we can’t know what forms you will need until we have received all of your documents, we cannot give you an upfront / exact amount that it will cost to prepare your return. A general fees list will be provided to you upon request and a rough estimate may be given. There are two ways to pay your preparation fees.  You may choose to pay your preparation fees upfront or you may elect to have your preparation fees taken from your refund. An additional Bank Processing fee of $89.95 will apply for this service. If you wish to utilize our Refund Transfer Process, please note that the bank processing fee of $89.95 is what the bank charges you to deduct your Tax Preparation Fee from your refund once the IRS has released it. After the bank has deducted their fee and the Star Pro Tax preparation fee, the remainder of your refund will be sent to you in the method you choose on the bank application.  You will also have the option of including your State Refund through the bank (additional $14 fee) to ensure that your preparation fee is deducted from whichever refund is released first. Most states will release your refund faster than the IRS as they are not on the same processing schedule.

       2 Ways to Pay:

Upfront: You may pay your preparation fees upfront once you have signed your tax return. An invoice link will be sent to you via Paypal. You do not need a PayPal account to pay your invoice. You do not need to utilize an exisiting PayPal account to pay your invoice. Simply click the "Pay Now" button in the email.  This takes you to a check out screen where you can enter your payment information and close out your invoice.

Refund Transfer Bank Option: If you do not wish to pay your fees upfront then you may elect to have your preparation fees taken from your refund.  An additional Bank Processing fee of $89.95 will apply for this service. If you wish to utilize our Refund Transfer Process the bank processing fee of $89.95 is what the bank charges you to deduct your Tax Preparation Fee from your refund once it has been released by the IRS (or state).  After the bank has deducted their fee and the Star Pro Tax preparation fee, the remainder of your refund will be sent to you in the method you choose on the bank application. Reminder, to also process your State Refund through the bank there will be an additional $14 fee.  Including your State Return will ensure that your preparation fee is deducted from whichever refund is released first.

NOTE: Choosing the Refund Transfer option does not mean you will get your refund faster and it is not a loan. The RT provides an option for you to pay your tax preparation fees from your refund only. It is a No Upfront Cost option.

      Fees:
By request only, an estimate of fees may be given at the time of consultation. A final invoice will be issued for your review at the completion of your tax return (Prior to E-Filing). Rates are based off of the IRS forms used in preparing your tax return. We generally do not charge by the hour; however hourly rates may be required depending on the extent of the service you require. NOTE: Estimated fees are discussed upfront and final invoices will be issued at the conclusion of our service. Keep in mind, there may be a difference between your initial estimate and the final invoice. Payment and all financial arrangements are expected at the conclusion of service. Failure to make a payment will be considered a termination of services by Star Pro Tax LLC. Accounts not fully paid within 15 days after the issuance of the final invoice will be accessed late fees.

      Invoices:

Invoices will be sent to you after you have reviewed, asked questions and signed your tax return.  Please do not delay in signing your return in attempt to delay paying your invoice. Starting tax year 2025, if your invoice is not paid after 15 days (after you have signed) then the process of incurring late fees, collections and then termination of our business relationship will begin. If you have abandoned your return, your return will be deleted on April 15th.  See the section on Abandoned Returns for more information.

NOTE: No return will be sent to the IRS for processing without full payment. Clients that wish to have their fees taken from their tax refunds may sign up for a bank product through our third-party affiliate Refund Advantage (Fees will apply). If for any reason your refund is not released by the IRS, you are responsible for paying your fees and settling your account. You will have up to 15 days to pay your preparation fees (Late Fees will apply for each day after the 15 days). If your account remains unsettled and no payment arrangement established after 30 days your account will be sent to collections. If your account is unsettled, no return copies will be given until account is paid in full.

      Abandoned Returns:

There has been an increase of incomplete returns over the past few tax years. If you start a return with Star Pro Tax but do not complete the return; the return would be considered abandoned.  The information that you provided will be kept until the end of the current tax season (April 15th) and then deleted if you do not return to complete it. For new clients, the New Client Upfront Fee is non-refundable. Any client who returns after April 15 to complete an abandoned return will have to start over if you wish to file for that tax year. If you were a new client and paid your upfront fee and abandoned your return, the upfront fee that you paid during the tax year will not be applied to the completion of an abandoned return. You will have to start the process over again.  You would be considered to have abandoned your return if and when you leave the process for the entire tax season, you have not communicated with your Tax Pro for more than 15 days or up to the entire tax season and / or have not finalized your invoice upon completion of your tax return.

NOTE: Star Pro Tax does not charge an hourly rate for time spent working or holding a return. To keep preparation fees reasonable to all clients, fees are based solely on the complexity of your return and forms used to prepare your return.
