Coeur d'Alene Dog Fanciers

The Coeur d'Alene Dog Fanciers is an AKC affiliated club dedicated to promoting responsible dog ownership, responsible breeding practices and care of all dogs through education and example. Our objectives are to provide low-cost training classes and educational programs. We support dog owners and educational projects that benefit our whole community.

All members must be in good standing with the AKC and subscribe to the purpose of this club.

CDADF members are EXPECTED to contribute work to the club; this work can take many forms, including helping with our trials or fun matches, volunteering at our Show, assisting with registration, teaching or assisting classes, etc.

***  PLEASE NOTE *** 

You MUST be sponsored by two members of Coeur d'Alene Dog Fanciers PRIOR to applying for membership. These individuals must be members in good standing and have been members of CDADF for at least 6 months prior to sponsoring.  Each sponsor must fill in a Sponsor's form.

Your membership application WILL NOT be processed if this requirement has not been met.

Application process

Step 1: An applicant form may be obtained at a general meeting, CDADF website, or from a member in good standing. The first reading of a completed application,
which includes 2 sponsors and a payment in the amount of first year’s dues, will
take place at the next general meeting.

Step 2: All applicants must meet with a member of the Membership committee prior to the application vote. This can be done in person, virtually by video teleconference or by hybrid formats as may be designated by Membership chair.

Step 3: After the second reading of the application and two events have been completed, a vote will take place at next month’s General meeting by the membership in attendance.

Code of Conduct

 • I will encourage high standards of sportsmanship by my behavior and I will not engage in malicious or intentionally misleading or exaggerated statements about other breeders, their dogs, or their breeding practices.
• I will help educate the public in the accepted standards of care and breeding practices.
• I will maintain high standards in the care of my dogs.
• I will not sell any dog without true and full representation, nor intentionally use
misleading or untruthful statements in selling or advertising.
• I will not breed dogs for the purpose of donating or selling to commercial dog wholesalers or pet shops.
• I understand that indiscriminate breeding may lead to overpopulation and
contribute materially to the deterioration of my breed

I, the undersigned, in good standing with the American Kennel Club, hereby apply for membership in the Coeur d’Alene Dog Fanciers. I agree to abide by the Constitution and Bylaws, the rules and decisions of the Coeur d’Alene Dog Fanciers and will conduct myself in accordance of the Code of Conduct, and do hereby release the Club and all persons connected therewith, in any capacity whatsoever, for any and all liability, cost and expense resulting from injury to my person or property, or to the dogs brought by me to any events held or sponsored by the Club. It is understood that wholesale and retail trading in dogs as a business, (aside from those of the members’ own breeding), shall be deemed conduct prejudicial to the best interests of the Club, and are grounds for expulsion.
