A Ferrette House space in North Charleston, South Carolina
  • Welcome to Unity Yard — a co-working and garden learning space rooted in creativity, community, and care. Located on Ferrette House's North Charleston campus, Unity Yard is part of a living cultural and healing arts ecosystem. Here, we value rest, reciprocity, imagination, and respect for the land and one another.

This application helps us get to know you, your practice, and how you might contribute to the shared wellness of this space. Because Unity Yard is also part of our home, we take extra care to build a community of folks who are respectful, responsible, and aligned with our values.

Please answer honestly and thoughtfully — this isn’t a test, but a way to discern whether this is a good fit for both of us.

Submitting an application does not guarantee access to Unity Yard. We curate our community carefully to honor the land, the home, and each other.

  • Why We Offer a Sliding-Scale

We believe in sharing resources in equitable and just ways, y'all. We know that application fees can be cost-restrictive to artists, organizers, and healers working in the community. We also know that some folks enjoy financial privilege and need invitations to share the wealth. A third, frustrating reality is: it costs money to run a residency and co-working space, and to care for people under capitalism! As we demolish the oppressive systems we live within, we, too, hope to create an ecosystem through which folks who got it share with folks that need it through mutual aid and support in the meantime. Let's invest in a care-based economy!

Here are our application fee suggestions, and an idea of how your dollars will be contributing to the community:

$10 - Goes toward building funding that will keep us going
$25 - Pays our water bill!
$30 - Purchases tea and coffee ingredients for our workspace
$50 - Helps pay FH staff a stipend for two hours of administrative work
$85 - Pays the wifi for one month!
$125 - Pays our janitorial contractor for one house cleaning (needed to help keep our space sanitized and healthy)!
$250+ - Pays for a workshop slot for one community member in or Garden Learning Lab!
