    The SSAA Practical Shooting – Handgun National Championships are coming to NSW in 2026.

    Hosted by Sporting Shooters Association of Australia (NSW) Ltd, the championship will be held from 2–4 October 2026.

    Event Dates
    Friday, 2 October 2026 – Range Officers' Pre-Match
    Saturday, 3 October 2026 – Competition Day 1
    Sunday, 4 October 2026 – Competition Day 2

    Match Format
    The championship will consist of:
    • 10 stages plus chronograph
    • Minimum round count of 240 rounds
    • Equipment and accreditation checks prior to competition

    Equipment Checks (50m Pistol Range): 8:00am (Day 1 only)
    Competitor Briefing: 9:30am

    Presentation Dinner: 6:30pm

    Eligibility
    Competitors must:
    • Be current SSAA members
    • Hold the necessary SSAA Practical Shooting Holster accreditation

    Please note that no late entries will be accepted after 25 September 2026. Early registration is encouraged, particularly for competitors wishing to request specific squadding arrangements. While requests will be considered, they cannot be guaranteed.

    Important Information
    • Physical photo ID must be presented at registration
    • No camouflage (camo) clothing is permitted.
    • Food and refreshments will be available for purchase at the venue via
    EFTPOS only.

    Competition Rules
    The event will be conducted in accordance with:
    • SSAA Standard Rules No. 9.3 Rev Nov 2025
    • The SSAA Practical Shooting Rule Book No.7 Revised Nov 2025 will be available on the SSAA Inc. website.

    Competitors should familiarise themselves with the latest rules and requirements before the event.

  • SECTION 3 – PRESENTATION DINNER

  • A presentation dinner will be held on Sunday, 4 October, at 6:30 pm in the Carrington Room at Mittagong RSL (148-150 Old Hume Highway, Mittagong, NSW).

    Attendance is optional and not included in the registration fee.

    The cost is $60 per person, with drinks available to purchase separately.

  • Are you a NSW resident?*
  • Interstate residents who are authorised in their home State or Territory to possess and use firearms are afforded recognition in NSW for limited purposes. Please ensure you understand NSW interstate permit requirements before travelling.

    There is no safe storage facilties available at the SSAA NSW Hill Top Shooting Complex. It is up to the competitors to arrange their own Safe Storage for the duration of the event.

     

  • Accommodation Information:

    Mittagong is located approximately 20 kilometres from the SSAA Hill Top Shooting Complex, making it a convenient accommodation base for visitors attending events and competitions at the facility. Accommodation options throughout Mittagong and the surrounding Southern Highlands towns cater to a wide range of budgets and travel preferences, including caravan parks, camping grounds, self-contained apartments, motels, boutique guesthouses and full-service resorts.

    No camping and no alcohol will be permitted on site.

     

  • SECTION 5 - DELEGATES MEETING INFORMATION

  • The SSAA National Discipline Sub-Committee meeting - Practical Shooting, will be held on Saturday evening, 3rd October 2026 at 5:30pm in the Range Office.

    All SSAA State and Territory Discipline Delegates seeking to attend the meeting are required to be endorsed by their SSAA Full Member Body Secretary. Approved delegates are requested to submit their nominations and/or agenda items in writing before 25 September 2026 to:

          • I agree to abide by the Rules of the SSAA Practical Shooting Discipline as stated, the Rules, By-Laws, Policies and Procedures of the nominated SSAA approved host branch, the Sporting Shooters Association of Australia Inc. and the Sporting Shooters Association of Australia (NSW) Ltd whilst participating in this event and agree to conduct myself in a sportsmanlike manner at all times.

            I understand that to be eligible to register and participate in the event I must provide a copy of my current SSAA Membership Card and Current SSAA Holster Accreditation embedded in my registration form prior to the event and/or provide written support from the relevant SSAA Full Member Body Secretary confirming my eligibility.

            I understand that the event may be cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances or restrictions imposed by Local, State or Federal Authorities and that registration fees are not automatically refundable. Any refund will be determined solely by the host branch after deduction of any event costs already incurred.

            I understand that all travel, accommodation and associated costs incurred by attending the event remain my sole responsibility.
