Community Leadership Series: Watershed Weekend in Action with Metroparks Toledo
  • Community Leadership Series: Watershed Weekend in Action with Metroparks Toledo

    Wednesday, May 13, 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM
  • The Community Leadership Series is dedicated to spotlighting exceptional leaders and organizations within the greater Toledo region. Sessions consists of local guest presenters who guide discussions through topics pertaining to leadership development and community involvement.

    Topic:

Watershed Weekend is a celebration of nearly a decade of transformation along the Maumee River, from Glass City Metropark to International Cove and the revitalized downtown riverfront. This annual event highlights the power of community vision, public support, and civic engagement in reclaiming and enhancing our shared public spaces.

Leadership Toledo is proud to serve as a key partner for the Glass City Riverwalkers during Watershed Weekend. Our team will recruit, educate, and launch Riverwalkers, with the first community walk taking place on June 14, marking the kickoff to the weekend’s activities. Through this initiative, Leadership Toledo is connecting the community to these reclaimed spaces, mobilizing participants, and supporting the ongoing revitalization of the riverfront.

The session will feature Mike Keedy, Chief Engagement & Enterprise Officer at Metroparks Toledo, who will discuss the impact of Watershed Weekend and the continued effort to engage the community in stewarding the Maumee River and surrounding public spaces.

    Speaker:

Mike Keedy is Chief Engagement & Enterprise Officer at Metroparks Toledo, where he works with teams across programming, customer service, community engagement, and enterprise partnerships to help connect people to parks. Before joining Metroparks in 2021, he spent 17 years in sports, entertainment, and hospitality with the Toledo Mud Hens, Toledo Walleye, and Hensville. He has been involved in efforts to support and activate downtown Toledo, which led to the opportunity to join the Metroparks team during the development of the transformational Glass City Riverwalk project. Mike lives in the area with his wife, Michelle, and their three park-loving kids, Gus, Joe, and Frankie.
