    *If you are auditioning for more than one program, please submit a separate form for each audition. Multiple auditions cannot be submitted on a single form.

  • Steel Pan Programs

    Current Steelpan Students: 

    Current steelpan students who are interested in ensemble advancement for next season will need to complete an in-person returning student audition. Please complete this application and you will be contacted seperatley to schedule your audition. Students interested in joining Kaiso Steel Orchestra, CYSO’s most advanced steel ensemble, should also prepare the Kaiso Audition Requirements.

  • Steel Pan Programs

    New Steelpan Only Students: 

    Students who have never played an instrument before are required to partake in an in-person placement test. They will be tested on melodic and rhythmic learning by rote. Rote learning is a memorization technique commonly used in music that is  based on repetition. Please complete this application and you will be contacted seperatley to schedule your audition.

  • Steel Pan Programs

    New Steelpan Only Students: 

    Students with musical experience must submit a video of themselves on their primary instrument playing the required tryout material. They will be tested on their general music knowledge as well as melodic and rhythmic sight reading on their primary instrument. Students should be prepared to play 3 major scales of their choice and a solo or excerpt of repertoire they’re currently working on. Students interested in joining Kaiso Steel Orchestra, CYSO’s most advanced steel ensemble, should also prepare the Kaiso Audition Requirements.

  • Steel Pan Programs

    New Steelpan Only Students: 

    Students with prior experience playing steelpan are required to partake in an in-person placement test. They will be tested on their basic music knowledge. They will also be asked to perform on the steelpan and assessed on major scales, melodic and rhythmic sight reading, aural skills and rote learning. Students interested in joining Kaiso Steel Orchestra, CYSO’s most advanced steel ensemble,  should also prepare the Kaiso Audition Requirements. Please complete this application and you will be contacted seperatley to schedule your audition.

  • Percussion Students

    Students have the option to audition in person to use CYSO's percussion equipment. If you would like to schedule an in-person percussion audition, please indicate your preference below. If you selected yes, CYSO will reach out directly to schedule your audition in April.
