BBQ COOK-OFF RULES & REGULATIONS
1. Contestants must have completed & signed the registration form, the Hold Harmless agreement form, read the rules and regulations form and paid the entire entry fee (check, money orders, cash) to hold space. Spaces are on a first come first serve basis. Returning cookers may not be guaranteed the same spot. (limited spaces available)
2. Contestants must be at least 21 years old. All entries, money & paperwork are due June 1, 2026, by 2 PM.
3. Vehicles will not be permitted to exit/enter contest area after 5:00 PM on Friday, June 12, 2026.
4. Contestants will not be permitted to bring any motorized vehicles including, three or four wheelers, and golf carts, motorcycles in any form or any motorized scooters.
5. No pets of any kind are allowed except service dogs.
6. Contestants will furnish all needed supplies/equipment. We do not provide water or electricity.
7. Dutch Oven
• $20 CASH entry. 50% CASH PAYOUT to 1st place winner & 50% to chamber.
• Dutch Oven food division will be turned in for judging at 6PM.
8. Chefs Choice is open to cookers’ discretion (NO STEAKS & NO DESSERTS).
• $20 CASH entry. 50% CASH PAYOUT to 1st place winner & 50% to chamber.
• Chefs Choice food division will be turned in for judging at 7PM.
9. PRE-COOKED MEAT IS NOT PERMITTED. Raw meat only. Contestants begin cooking after 12 PM on Friday, 6-12-2026 only after their meats have been inspected by BBQ Cook-Off Director of the Brazoria Chamber of Commerce. After meat inspection each team will be given turn-in trays, for each tray you will find an envelope, tickets. Each team is responsible for their trays. All condiments are prohibited. Meats may be cooked with sauces and/or other liquids, but once cooking is complete, sauces and/or other liquids may NOT be added to the tray. Each team may choose to place a piece of foil or a leafy vegetable (lettuce, cabbage, etc.) in the bottom of the tray. The envelope with the ticket should be taped on top of the
box. Leave only one ticket in the envelope & keep one for yourself. (During awards we will call ticket numbers, tickets must be provided for verification in order to receive the award).
10. The Head Cook Meeting is mandatory. It will be at the Brazoria Civic Center & Museum Grounds on Thursday, June 11 th at 6 PM. PRIZE AMOUNTS will be announced. Cookers can begin set up THURSDAY, June 11th starting at 9AM. COOKERS ONLY may stay the night on Thursday, June 12th, but there will be NO loud music or partying allowed.
11. Sauces will disqualify the entry.
12. Fires will be wood or charcoal. No pellet, gas fired or electronic temperature controls allowed. Holes or cooking pits are forbidden. Any equipment or device that damages the site is prohibited.
13. Each cooking team is required to have on site fire extinguishers for A, B, & C fires, with a minimum of 5 lbs. pressure and a current inspection. Cooking areas may be inspected at any time and disqualified if it is determined they are dangerous or create a safety hazard in any way.
14. Four armbands will be distributed to all teams. Everyone on the team should put them on immediately & wear them throughout the event. All children under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult at all times! The Head Cook is responsible for the conduct of all members and guests of their team. Excessive
alcohol use, music volume, profanity flags, signs and/or unacceptable conduct, as so deemed by the Brazoria Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, will be disqualified, entry fees and awards will be forfeited. Excessive loud music will not be allowed after midnight. FRIDAY, June 12th and after 10 p.m. following the awards on Saturday, June 13, 2026; 1st warning, 2nd disqualification. Nudity will not be allowed.
15. NO team is allowed to sell barbecue, beverages or solicit donations of any kind for such items.
16. Judges and BBQ Committee decisions are final. No refunds
17. Trash receptacles will be placed in the contest area for contestant use. Contestants are responsible for the cleanliness of their site and area/restrooms. Areas must be clean & presentable always.
18. All equipment shall be removed from the contest site no later than 2 p.m. Sunday, June 14, 2026 in the event of rain vehicles will not be allowed on grounds, equipment will need to remain on grounds to prevent damage to property.
